    Mélange #3
    $30/bottle ($25.50 after RS discount) - 12 bottle limit
Melange #3 is a blend of three bourbon barrel aged strong ales. White Oak Sap, a wheat wine, our Anniversary Series old ale and our imperial stout, Black Tuesday, join forces in this luxurious strong ale that links some of the best characteristics of each of the contributing beers. Chocolate, dark fruits, oaky vanilla and rich toffee-like character reach through the bourbon veneer for an intensely satisfying quaff.
    Available in December.
15.5% ABV, Suitable for aging many years

Bourbon Barrel Aged 4 Calling Birds
    $25/bottle ($21.25 after RS discount) - 2 bottle limit
    RESERVE SOCIETY EXCLUSIVE
4 Calling Birds was our 2011 winter ale - a spiced strong dark ale. We took inspiration from the traditional winter warmer for our fourth verse, integrating gingerbread spices into a robust dark ale. Notes of licorice & banana bread mingle with dark fruit, molasses and bitter chocolate for a perfect cold weather sipper!
This is the Bourbon Barrel Aged version of last years holiday seasonal! Spending a year in rich oak barrels, the beer has picked up incredibly deep and luxurious notes from the oak and bourbon, but has maintained it's original charm.
    Available in December.
14.8% abv, suitable for aging until 12 Drummers Drumming is released.

Melange #3 is one of my favorite beers The Bruery makes. It's far better IMO than Black Tuesday, and is a more complex and exciting beer than Chocolate Rain.

Glad to see it back on sale - now I don't feel as bad for popping one of my current bottles at Thanksgiving.

We get 2 of the BA 4 Calling birds as part of membership, right?

Damn, I was hoping the allocation for Melange #3 was after the first of the year seeing as how it is in the initial package for 2013.

There was so much regular 4 Calling Birds this year, and so much Trois Poules Francais on the shelves last year, I am really surprised that we only get to buy 2 and that its an RS exclusive. Wonder if something went wrong. Also, 11% to 14.8% abv is a pretty huge jump, no?

Yep, 2 included, so 4 total if you max out.

I can't tell if it's bad that I'm honestly considering maxing out the Melange #3. It's so good, but I already have more Bruery beer than I know what to do with...

Don't drink a 12 pack of Melange 3 before bedtime.

I had some again recently side-by-side with Chocolate Rain and BT. Seriously, Melange 3 is f*cking good. And it makes a good Christmas present, but that's another $300 out of pocket on top of Ichigo, Reuze, and RS membership renewal.

Ditto. It was the first Bruery beer I had and blew my socks off. Time to stock up to make it through the long, hard, cold So Cal winter

Yeah, this is always the time of year to have some extra cash saved in the Bruery RS, since these tend to be the beers that many want the most, Barrel aged X-mas beers, BT, Melange 3 (& as mentioned, RS renewal)

I got the full case last year of Melange 3, and that stung! Delicious beer. Don't think I can do that again this year, as much as I love the beer. But, with the size of this allocation, and not being a RS Exlusive (just Melange 3, the barrel aged 4 calling birds is) I expect many won't max, so bottles will be at Provisions & the tasting room, plenty, imo, since there was last year, and it lasted a good while given the cost per bottle.

I'm actually really surprised it wasn't distributed, given the size (if all RS maxed, it's 1,350 x 12 = 16,200 bottles) which is way more then many other limited production distributed beers from other breweries. Considering it's all but confirmed Reuze will be distributed & that was only a 6 bottle limit.

How did 4 Calling Birds at 11% get to Barrel Aged 4CB at 14.8%? If it was from the barrel, that'd be like 5+% bourbon by volume. Is it a different recipe?

Yeah it was at Provisions through the spring this year, and that's a lot of bottles...

Any SD RS members not planning on getting their full allocations? Would love to grab 3-4 of these. Shoot me a BM.

That's weird, I didn't receive an e-mail for this allocation. The last one I received was the last chance to buy last month's beers. :astonished:
