Honestly, I don't think it's because of poor sales. Just the opposite, really. This could be confirmed by Yellow Springs, but they probably felt it better to pull back a little bit in order to ensure they can take care of their home base. I know Columbus isn't that far away, but it's all relative.

GD hippies! I'm kidding, that's an interesting move, I thought they were doing well in these parts.

As Corder said, I don’t think it’s because they didn’t do well but couldn’t keep up with supplying Columbus

More to off the radar topics, I stopped by 1922 coffee and brew in Painesville this past weekend, has a few house beers on tap. Not sure who is out my way, but worth the stop if you want to stay super local #drinksuperlocalnotjustlocal. I hate people that say they love the lager at certain breweries, but the lager they poured at this place really was great. Like really really.

Why do you hate when people say they like lager?

Acme teams up with Hoppin’ Frog to create The California Turbo Shandy

The past couple trips I've made to the taproom, I've been floored at how quickly all their variations of Turbo Shandy are flying out the door--the shift to 12 ounce cans has been huge for them. The California is getting a ton interest in my circles--sounds like it'll be their first go at the 16 ounce can.

I just saw that Platform is having their first release in Cincinnati on Saturday. I actually didn't know they had a facility down here yet.

They are releasing a Milkshake IPA and a smoothie Berliner.

So "Berliners", literally one of the lightest, thinnest styles of ale, are thick and smoothie-like now?

Lord help us, we've strayed so far from the light.

Welcome to 2018. There are mashmallow Berliners, donut Berliners, neon blue Berliners, and more.

Actually, come to think of it, the Berliner Weisse style has historically welcomed manipulation and bastardization. Neon green woodruff syrup, anyone?

$4.99 for a single 16oz can of a summer shandy? Jeebus.

I actually don't have much of a problem with all the fruited stuff, aside from the fact that most of it, including all of Platform's swill, aren't Berliners they are kettle soured. I wish people would adopt another name for these fake Goses and Berliners, just call the umbrella style kettle sour.

For those that prefer Wisconsin beer, less flavor, and more bloat, they could always buy a 6 pack of 4.2% 12 ounce Leinenkugels for a couple bucks more ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In the meantime, people are shelling out big bucks and absurd trades for crowlers of "joose" out of a "brewery" that is blending fruit puree into other brewery's beer, and it doesn't even taste good.

For a shandy, I haven't run across a better (or stronger) one than Turbo and its variants, and this is a first run as well. I'm excited for it.

The Answer has ya covered--they're really pushing that "joose" terminology. Their jooses and "popsicles" don't even remotely taste, feel or look like beer. It isn't even their beer (cheers Anderson Valley), and there's hardly any ABV to speak of. Might as well be drinking a Squeezit.

Someone should tell them there's no same in selling actual juice. If they did some creative fresh pressed raw juices and canned them I might have a shred of respect for them.

Branch and Bone is already really solid after being open less than a month. On A Cloud and Here Is The Thing are excellent showcases of Mosaic and El Dorado respectively and are up there with the best of Yellow Springs for hoppy stuff around Dayton (if not NEIPAs from the state in general). Dimmer is a really nice golden coffee ale that's the closest thing to Clear Sky Daybreak being made in the area, and the Berliner variants have all been good to great, with the peach tea one being the highlight so far. The saison and imperial stout were also really good and I can't wait to see what barrel aging does for the latter.

Really excited to see where they go from here, as I'm sure they can only get better and better at brewing on their system.

Thanks. I'm really glad to hear you are enjoying the beers. We are working hard on everything, the IPA's naturally just take time to dial in on a new system, new hops, new everything....But I'm pleased with our first batches. On A Cloud is about exactly where I hope to have the hop levels and bitterness across most of our hoppy beers.

The mixed fermentation stuff in barrels and foeders is progressing very nicely and we will be bottling some in the near future. We also have some local fruit coming in the next few weeks to put some of that beer on as well. Fun stuff ahead for sure! Cheers

Sorry, just sometimes people over sell the classics in our age of beef confusion, that's all, didn't mean much by it.
