What really sucks is that literally the only people punished are average joes who actually want to try the beer. How many shitlordz are deterred by that price tag? Zero! Still plenty of profit. But many of us, even if we're willing to watch Twitter every night for weeks on end, drive to Iowa in the middle of the night on a dime's notice, still have to rationalize (to our wives) spending $100 on one bottle of beer. With people like me excluded, that's how you end up with a line full of mules. Or maybe I just need to move to Decorah if wages are high enough to support that kind of lifestyle!

It's the most expensive beer (resale/secondary) I have ever heard of available in the United States - Except perhaps a few bottles from Side Project. I know that and i am not a guy that knows almost anything about secondary other than what is thrown around.

No doubt it will bring crazy mules.

I'm much less sad about anything TG did, and much more sad that there were toddlers in line. Truly deplorable/despicable.

Yeah there were babies that people had in line and they stayed from probably 1am and didn't get inside until 1120-30 probably. Smoothly run release though. In and out within maybe a couple minutes.

I don’t get it. People don’t have someone to watch the kids or what is the reason they are in line? TG can’t possibly be allowing bottle allocations to minors and allowing parents to buy more than one bottle???

Are you kidding? I made a fake ID for my "21 year old toddlers" and left with 3 bottles. These little guys are already picking up the slack on that college fund!

Yeah I’m no saint as I’ve rushed my kids out the house many a time and even cut a few naps short to speed off to a liquor store for a limited release or ten over the years but to pull your kids out of bed in the middle of the night to stand in line for hours just for a beer? you fools need to get your priorities in order! when I first saw the comment that toddlers were in line I was hoping it was a joke about mules but damn if it’s true, makes me want to stop drinking and all three of my kids slept soundly through the night in their own beds last night......

It gets better folks... I live an hour walk from Other Half in Brooklyn. A couple years ago you had to wait a hour or two to get cans of their NEIPAs. The lines would be full mules buying a case of each of can, they usually have 4 different beers for sale each Saturday. Out of curiosity I would talk to the dudes in the front of the line who got there 2am for 10am release, lots people driving 6-10 hours, 4 dudes in minvan buying 4 cases each. Friends in Buffalo told me $4-5 cans would go for $15-20 a pop (this is for their regular affair IPAs, not one off collabs with Monkish).

As time went on, brewers left OH, started there own places and now the tri-state NYC area is lousy with NEIPA cans. Mules can't make a super killing anymore where it's worth their time, more supply of NEIPAs means lower prices. Now I can walk out of my apartment at 10am on Saturday stroll through the park, get to OH around 11:30 and walk in and out with whatever I want.

The only reason you can't walk in at 10am bc some people have turn this into a deadhead thing and use the line for hanging out and trading, coolers full tall boys and sandwiches. But it's great middle ground, the am hours are for people who want to hang out, the pm hours for people who just want to buy beer.

Also you guys are pretty lucky in the sense you can go to the piggly wiggly and buy bomber of DDH Sue, with the coupon lady being the biggest line worry. Ignore FOMO, beer is supposed to be fun.

Not entirely true, the beers still do sellout and I occasionally pay a mule to pickup other half and treehouse beer for me.

OH does sells out of nearly every IPA by Saturday evening, but early afternoon it's walk in walk out. They also release 1 or 2 brews on weekdays, and those last 2-3 days. 2 years ago it was either pay or mule or wait 2 hours, of course this goes out the window for big collaborations, now it's so much easier. My point is supply will catch up to demand, and soon the Midwest will be full of NEIPA like the South (until the next fad). If you followed the lesson of Moby Dick, and don't sacrifice your sanity for whale beers, you'll have fun. A place's whales aren't that much better than a brewery's standards, you get 10% more wow for 10 times the work.

My brother lives in Wisconsin, and when I visit I abuse Southwest's check bag policy to bring him OHs, and few years those would be his windows to have an NEIPA, now he can go down the street and score a fresh DDH TGB, I still bring him OH though.

Supposedly this is batch 1 SR, that's why the low number of bottles. A new batch will be released sometime this year.

that would somewhat explain the price tag (although not really - it’s price gouging any way you shake it)

Source? Not trying to be a douche, just curious where some of these rumors are coming from.

The bartender pouring the beers yesterday. She could be full of it, I was just taking her on her word.

Hmmm that's interesting. Seems like it would be a somewhat reliable source there. Hope it's true!

Does the timing match up from how long batch 1 was in barrels to how long this "bottling batch" was allegedly in barrels...i.e. did I see 4 years?! Interesting notion though. More information to fuel conversation

i’m thinking she meant the tap SR because the bottles look new (labels have the TG around the top like all the new bottles and black wax instead or gold or silver like before)
