It kinda depends on what radius "local" is considered to be. Probably 30% of the beer I drink is from New York these days, but only about 5% - 10% is really local, like less than two hours away.

97% from in county, 98% in state. I live in San Diego though. I like some of the great stuff from elsewhere, but I have everything I need here. From IPAs of all types to lagers, to sours, to stouts there's no beer you can't find well done in San Diego.

I live in a beercation area and homebrew. I still Chase the occasional out of state bottle, but for the most part drink local.

I use to support then quite often .every weekend as a matter of fact .but this was when I had a decent job and could afford to do so. Now not much at all but strictly because my budget does not allow for it .

Hoping that changes soon however .We have a very good beer scene here

Local as defined by the OP -- about 15%
    Within 250 miles -- 95%

I would say 85%ish now that I live in CO. Back in WV, I would say maybe 30%

So I answered 60 -80, but thinking about it, I'm really not sure what comprises local. I baked it on a range of about 3 hours. Is this reasonable, or am I full of shit? Somebody help me out.

Depends where ya are, but even in farthest NorCal, 3 hours seems a bit of a stretch. A couple posts above yours, someone mentioned 250 miles. If I were to go East, 250 wouldn't even get me out of state, but that's not local either, IMHO.

I'd classify local as within a 1 hour drive. That's why I broke it down by local, state and other. The overwhelming majority of what I drink I could go get at the source or store.

That makes sense. Kinda makes me sad since I only have 2 breweries worth a damn within 2 hours, but still makes sense.

Lets see what my latest liquor store haul was:
Brouwerij West FA Really (LA), MikkellerSD Building Blocks (SD), El Segundo Cerveza Fresca (LA), Stone Enjoy BY (SD), Russian River Pliny The Elder (Santa Rosa), Maine Beer Co Lunch (Maine), Samuel Smith Chocolate Stout (England), Ex Novo Dynamic Duo (Oregon), Ommegang Rosetta (New York)
Only 2 out of 9 were local. But there are also times where I only buy local stuff. We are just fortunate to have good distro here (Lunch? Yes please!). But yeah, I’m all about keeping things fresh and changing it up.

Great description. I have often wondered why New Hampshire hasn’t/ doesn’t really put itself on the NE beer map. You’re sandwiched between VT, ME and MA, but no real notable NH beers in recent years. Any thoughts as to why?

I love supporting local when it warrants it, but just because its local. With over saturation its always best to drink only the highest quality.

I've never quite figured it out. Something about the state-run liquor and wine outlets sucking up all the liquor commisssion's apparently limited attention span - which is kind of weird for a place that bills itself as a libertarian paradise. I don't know; smart people have explained it to me repeatedly but it makes so little sense to me that I can't make it stick in my brain. I do know that getting distributed here is such a pain in the ass that mostly nobody bothers trying.

I'm in the southern end of Hunterdon county near Flemington, NJ and New Hope, PA. Conclave and Lone Eagle are pretty damn good plus Triumph in New Hope has good beer and killer food. Troon in Hopewell and Flounder in Hillsborough are good too

I wondered if the popularity of the liquor outlets came in to play.

I selected 20-40%.. but I'm much closer to 20%. I've been to 3 newer breweries in the last month. 2 of them were substandard for me, while the 3rd place was pretty tasty (figures it's the furthest away). I do drink Delaware beer, but most of it is downstate. Even still it's not enough.

Distribution from out of state to Delaware is horrific. Yea, I can get Sierra, Bells, Stone ..etc, but It's been so bad for so long, I hardly even waste my time anymore. I drive an hour into PA, NJ or MD quite often. They all sll small brewery beers from around the country.

    80-99%

With Burial, Fonta Flora, and Bhavana so readily available I don't see a reason to drink most other beer. And when I do it's generally beers from Europe.
