May or may not be controversial in terms of general forum opinion, but it flies against the Beer Advocate guidelines - I think it's appropriate, and justified, to review an infected beer and/or completely derailed beer, even an older bottle.

Stores stock old beer and likewise, some people cellar beer for long periods of time. It's only fair reviews reflect how that particular beer aged, favorably or not.

Sure, that's what I always say about Sierra Nevada. If their chosen distribution method results in bottles that never reach my local grocery store until they're at least six months old, then that's the only product that's available to me and that's all I have to judge it on.

I expect it's still going on, but when I was in college and visiting the future in-laws in smalltown Wisconsin, parents took kids to the town bar. Almost as many kids as adults, drinking pop, playing, eating bar food, etc. And I recall some of that when I was a kid - if parents went to a party or bar, kids were there too.

Really, it annoys me more when folks feel compelled to take their dogs everywhere. A taproom or a picnic is one thing, but not to craft fairs, concerts, etc - places that are clearly making the dog nervous due to the crowd. Just leave them home where they clearly want to be.

Wisconsin is different. One cannot compare state-to-state, in general, but Sconnie is a huge outlier that skews the average.

That said, I remembered as a wee, young daftie, running Saturday errands with my Dad and his Dad. We'd stop off for a beer, and they'd plop me on a barstool between them. I'd nurse my coke and chips while they had a couple. I was expected to not make noise, let alone get up off my seat. Doesn't seem to have harmed me any to be expected to behave in a certain manner, while in an "adult" environment.

Things seem different these days, and, that's why I, personally, am not in favor of kids where I drink. It ain't the kids, it's the Fucking parents.

Are you saying that Ohio pricing automatically applies to the other 48 states (besides OH and SD)?

Sure I can get beer here that cheap, just nothing I would drink.

It really is the parents, I mean taking a kid to a bar and not letting them drink is a bit like taking them to an amusement park and making them watch you go on rides...

I'm 60 years old and if I stood in line for 1.5 hours in the rain for two cans of beer people would wonder why I wasn't behaving.

People who write totally stupid reviews about a particular beer with all kind of bull$!tt descriptions of its "flavor, aroma, etc,..." I get it that peoples taste buds are a little different but c'mon. I'm sure you all have read some of the ones I'm talking about. Makes me wonder if they actually drank the beer or not.

Unpopular maybe. Just because a brewery is local doesn't mean it's worth supporting. Supporting a mediocre brewery leaves less room for the really good ones to grow and thrive. Just like growing a plant, sometimes a little pruning is needed.

Also, everyone believes their local brewery is just as good as some other nationally known brewery, but it's usually not the case. Your shelf IPA isn't "Just like Treehouse".

LOL. That's the truth. It's usually not even as good as well made homebrew.

Just clarifying your statement "that only applies the your state", then quoting Ohio prices. Just want to know what happened to the other 48 states.
