I do. For me there’s a general increase in intensity, a bit more sweetness to counter the hops, and as a result it brings out more of that fruitiness (or other defining characteristics for certain hop types) that people seem to seek out these days.

Depending on the beer / hops being used I sometimes prefer the single route and sometimes the double. Generally speaking though I prefer things on the lower end

4 Adjunct IPAs and none of them are The Veil collab? Maybe this collab won't suck. Strawberry Whipz and Please Saber this Can both sound awesome tho, was wondering when Other Half would do something with wine grapes.

I can slightly tell the difference between a 6.5% and a 8.5%, but there's a more notable difference between a 8.5% and a 10.5%, for me. At this point, a lot of craft breweries have been able to mask 8.5% ABV pretty well.

Pretty much anything from OH below 7% has a thin hay-like taste to me.

What's the vibe like at the brewery? Anyone crack one yet?

Yeah, I get the same and find it doesnt fade like the grassiness in other ipas.

I pretty much won't buy any lower abv hoppy stuff from them.

From an alcohol burn perspective I totally agree about there being minimal difference between a 6.5% and an 8.5%.

I'm not sure though, whether breweries have learned to mask the 8-8.5% DIPA better, or if it's more just a case that the "lower" ABV-level of DIPA is now way more en vogue than it used to be. Pre-NEIPA, I'd say you'd normally expect a double IPA to be in the 9-11% range, with "triple" being reserved for the really high octane stuff. Now it seems that when the ABV hits double digits, we're immediately throwing in the word triple (though the fact that double/triple often refers to the dry-hopping / lupulin powder content etc, makes it even more confusing), and a double is now expected to be 8-8.5%. But I do remember back when i first joined, regularly posting that I much preferred DIPAs at the 7-8% end of the spectrum - there were just less of them then

Does DIPA instead IIPA bother anyone else? Its like doing NCDA over NCAA. I guess "Triple" IPA ruined things unless we can come up with another I word to throw in front.

Vinnie called Blind Pig's first anniversary beer a Double IPA so I'm going to stick with the dude who invented style. Granted he also pronounces Pliny incorrectly which irks me.

Is untappd telling the truth that they have Alchemist Crusher on tap? If so it'd be the first time I ever saw an Alchemist beer on draft here.

I bet they have some stuff that breweries left over from Green City in their fridge area to rotate in the next week or so.

City Slickers 2 is definitely tasty. Amped up and a lot sweeter than last year's version. The prickly pear comes through a lot more than City Slickers 2017. It reminds me more of what I remembered the original version tasting like. If I had to rank them I'd say OG City Slickers, City Slickers 2, City Slickers 2017.

Agree with this 100%. It's definitely really good, prickly pear up front, and the lemon is all in the finish for me. At first I thought the extra abv was adding heat, but it really is not, its all the lemon pithiness (if thats a word) which makes your tongue tingle. One of the better beers I've had from OH recently for sure.

And yes, Crusher is on tap also.
