yakima valley hops has a 2017 hops sale 10 dollars per pound on the following hops: Azacca Cascade Centennial Comet Chinook Crystal Liberty Warrior Willamette Loral Sale is until Sunday. Just wanted to make everyone aware as it happens first Friday of every month. I plan on grabbing some willamette and warrior.
Yup, all of these 'fire sales' would lead me to believe that there is indeed excess product out there. Sometimes the economic principle of supply and demand actually 'works'. Cheers!
There have been several article about the high amount of stock at brokers and breweries. Some of that is for the not so trendy hops, but you can find big quantities just about any hops for sale. The exception are the NZ hops, but you can find them sometimes if you are willing to pay a high price. There were another 2000 acres strung in the PNW in 2018.
Yeah, I recently bought six pounds from Hop Direct from between $5.00 and $8.00 / lb, as they recently had a number of varieties on sale. Many varieties are now sold out, but some are still for sale at quite good prices. Nosing around this morning they I see they still have Centennial, Cluster, Crystal, Cascade, Tahoma, and Comet pellets at pretty good (< $10 /lb) prices. Cheers!
Liberty is very similiar to hallertau tradition and I would be quite impressed if you could tell the difference.
Picked up some Warrior and Willamette as well. Love using those hops in my imperial stouts so always need a healthy dose on hand.
I heard fire and dry weather played havoc with the noble hops last year. Might have to pick up some comet as I am growing it and want to use it now...
I think it’s time to invest in a vacuum sealer! Also a good podcast from the Brulosphy dudes on hop stability and storage. Worth a listen.
