I don't really review but I drank mine right after getting it and it was excellent. Had all of the various styles of Yeti and a couple years of each and BA was best. That's too bad if this is widespread.

Ah, yes, I didn't even notice the forum it was under (I'm pretty sure I first got here via "What's New"), and you definitely have a point that an isolated consumer issue hardly constitutes "Beer News" as it is usually construed on this site. I shouldn't have jumped on your first post as quickly as I did. Sorry. I still think this post is entirely appropriate per se, but should be moved to a different forum.

    Cheers!

No worries, and fwiw I definitely agree about the subject manner being appropriate.

    Cheers!

I had an infected bottle on Monday, but I didn't review it. I have a couple more bottles sitting around. If those are infected, then I'll give it a poor rating.

Anyone contact Great Divide about this? This isnt a cheap bottle, and they should address and start handing out some refunds I would think...

I talked with the OP at KBS day and he said he'd gotten one response from them so far (I believe) and it was just something to the effect of they'd look into it.

Coming in for DLD? I could probably be talked into opening mine there. We tried one at a Chicago 'burbs tasting a couple weeks ago, and it definitely smelled off, but it tasted pretty good.

I opened a bottle last weekend (~#1200), no signs of infection, quite enjoyable. Have another bottle in the cellar though (#1089), so hopefully it tastes just as good.

Here's my review. I was unsure as to whether or not it was infected or just a shitty bottle/barrel aging.

Poured into a snifter. 2011 vintage. Bottle #1896.

3.5 A: The Yeti series are sexy looking imperials, but this one is a little different. Black color. Two fingers of creamy light brown head. Retention is a good bit worse than the original and a small ring of lacing is left.

2.0 S: Hmmm. This is pretty disappointing. First of all, it doesn't really smell much like Yeti at all. Secondly, this is either showing signs of infection or the bourbon or barrels used suck. Something along the lines of tangy/earthy fruits. It isn't sour or tart, but it's like a tangy melon and apple. Perhaps a touch vegetal as well. Plenty of vanilla and oak. Despite whatever is going on with the barrel, the worst part is that I can't pick up much of what I love about Yeti. Where is the soft roastiness, the chocolate, the molasses, and the coffee?

1.5 T: Again, I'm not sure if something is wrong with this or not, but it isn't good. Tangy fruitiness and vegetal components from the bourbon. Vanilla and oak. Light roastiness, but very little in terms of the usual Yeti flavors. Something along the lines of an acrid finish.

2.5 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. This is missing the creaminess that I like in an imperial. Not particularly smooth either since the tanginess of the bourbon is distracting.

2.0 D: As someone who loves the hell out of every other Yeti variant, I must say that drinking this was exceptionally disappointing. I really hope it's just this bottle that sucks and that it isn't infected. In any case, this isn't a good beer.

I traded for a bottle a few weeks back, I really hope it isn't infected.

We just had one at a tasting last week, tasty as can be. This is bad news though, as I still have one tucked away.

Definitely sounds infected. I would take that review down if you posted it.
