I decided to give the show a whirl after seeing the threads about it.

Straight away in the intro, she says some banal, nasal-heavy monotone shit along the lines of “Hi, I’m Meg. And I....love....beer.”

Already roughly 4 seconds in and I wanted to puke. Didn’t even bother to watch any more of it.

Ferda, all joking aside you couldn't be worse than Meg on tv.
    Cheers!

For a show that follows Meg "as she sets out on a cross-country journey to meet with home-brewers and find the best brews in each city she travels to.", it sure doesn't seem like she meets with that many people or tries that many beers. Maybe they cut out all the really, really awkward moments.

I didn't get to try the season 1 winner and the season 2 winner was just ok - no way you would think it was some kind of national beer contest winner. I'm interested to try the season 3 winner since it's supposed to be representative of an uncommon style, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I'm sure the editor has outtakes that are pretty cringe-worthy.

As I've said before, it's a horrible show all around. It is a terrible concept with a terrible host. If you improved on just one of those two, you'd have a show that was at least watchable.

I don’t want to come off as sexist or take away from her achievements, because she’s obviously well educated and very accomplished. Buuut...

The terms ‘office eyes’ or ‘a brewery 10’ are things you will definitely hear if you work in this industry. Frankly, there are not a ton of babes working in breweries. There may be 1 girl for every 25 guys. Basically, if you are an even moderately attractive girl with a workable knowledge of beer who isn’t a total asshole, you will probably go farther than a guy with the same credentials.

That being said, I’ve met some absolute phenomenal female brewers who make some world class beer. One of the best brewers I’ve ever known was a girl. She transitioned, though so that’s another point for our team, boys!

I work in a male dominated industry as well and we used to joke about female sales reps. Of course some people would use that as an excuse why they were doing poorly but a female sales rep was doing better.

Have you seen most of the drug company reps that go into doctors' offices? There's a reason for their appearance.

Next you’ll be saying that the ‘meteorologist’ on Telemundo didn’t get her job because of her extensive published research into rising pollution’s impact on barometric pressure in the eastern seaboard.

But yeah, I worked construction before beer, so nothing new to me. Unfortunately it works both ways. I’ve talked to female brewers who were frustrated with their bosses’ dismissive, ‘sure, toots’ attitude whenever they try to initiate change. Because of their gender and their looks, they face an uphill battle being recognized for their skill. It’s a tough, complex situation without an easy solution.

This show is in the same genre as The Office, I tended to watch both for the general awkwardness of it, and at times they both made me extremely uncomfortable. Just the type of home brewers that they seek out lets you know what they are going for. Don't feel bad @EvenMoreJesus

This show is a mess but it's neat to see other home brewers across the country. I'd like to see it move over to Europe but i doubt it.

i just watched 3 episodes. I don't see what's so awful about her. Not a fan of the Golden Road/ABI thing but I tried not to think about that and focus on the show as show. The Brew Dog guys are fine too, but to me their whole schtick is way gimmicky...but then I'm a malt-hops-yeast-water kind of homebrewer, which is why I was impressed that two of the three judges went for the NOLA pale ale in the season 3 finale, and she seemed to agree before picking what she picked.

I think you've got the record.

This makes me think that you didn't watch 3 shows.

I don't think that you can even compare these two shows. Mostly because James and Martin are entertaining hosts and Brew Dogs is a good concept, even though, like you said, the brewing part of it IS terribly gimmicky.

FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS GOOD AND HOLY, CAN WE JUST GET A BREWING SHOW THAT'S ABOUT BREWING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your assumption is without merit and ridiculous. Why not just apply that across the board to other minorities? That should explain why brewers are mostly white males.

OK, I have never heard of the show, let alone I have no idea what ViceLand is (assuming a TV/streaming station). The only thing I know about Golden Road is that was bought by AB InBev. So I am pretty much seeing this with fresh unbiased eyes. Have only seen the West Texas episode on YouTube (so I did not start at the beginning), but with all the people saying how awkward the host is has me thinking most of you have not actually interacted with awkward people. I found it pretty enjoyable for the most part, maybe could have asked a little more in depth questions with the home brewers, but can understand they are trying to show it to as broad an audience as they can. The host seemed genuine ,the location of the episode was great, and the people highlighted were interesting. Maybe she becomes a little more grading after seeing multiple shows, but did enjoy the episode. Way better than anything that was on the Brew Dog or Dogfishhead shows IMO.

FWIW, the fact that you don't know what Viceland is voids everything that you've said.
