Sorry about the thread jack again... the reports on Bamberg were inspiring as well as mouth-watering. I've enjoyed reading each one of them. The pics are to die for.

This question refers to Brauerei Flügge in FfM.
To recap: the OP mentioned he drank a bottle from them in Mü, so I wanted to add some info about this place, to which @NeroFiddled asked how beer in Germany can be sold due it not being RHG.

Having talked to the brewers/owners of Flügge, they mentioned adjuncts added to the IPA and Imperial Stout. I believe the Stout had invert sugar like Lyles, but I was a wee bit tipsy at the FfM Craft Bier Fest, so that may not be totally accurate.

Here's a new beer from Flügge, a Saisson, named Morris. Because it has Hafermalz, or malted oats, it's not RHG.

Wasn't the best Saisson I've ever had, but it was damn süffig!

That’s not correct. Malt of any kind including oats is allowed in top-fermenting beers. Unmalted grains are not allowed. Only bottom-fermenting beers are limited to barley malt only.

mmm, good to know that. I just now noticed the word "Bier" in the ingredients section of the label, quite small, but nonetheless calling it beer.

Sent you a PM. I'm living in Garmisch now and have the area pretty well scoped out.

I may have a day or two in the Garmisch area coming up - any good suggestions for food/beverages?

Yeah, the Hallstatt area is beautiful... Alewife and I stayed in a farmhouse B&B nearby way back in '86... Mammoth caves and ice caverns nearby are way cool.... literally!

    Prosit!!

I'd be interested to hear more about Garmisch too, if only because we were there last year on a hiking trip and found it alright but not spectacular for beer (apart from the day trip to Ettal) and also a weirdly hard place to find a drink after about 10pm on a weeknight.

In Salzburg, be sure to visit Die Weisse. Some of the thickest, cloudiest bottled weissbier I've ever had.

And only two blocks away is this cool little place.....

Yes, die Weisse is a good pick if you like Weissbier. The beer garden is really nice and I recently did a group lunch there and we loved the Backhendl (Chicken). Several great beers to try out: https://www.dieweisse.at/en/ I think the owner's son spent some time brewing in Kansas. I met them at Die Weisse several years ago and they were very nice and took the time to show me around the operation. It's located outside the tourist bubble, so it's a great respite from the crowd of Sound of Music tourists!

I have not been to the Kastner Schenke, so I can't comment on that one.
