I don't disagree, but my guess is that keg-only versions would be kept by GI for their own locations, similar to what they did with Double Barrel BCBS last year. Only time will tell.

Do note that it's Vanilla STOUT and not Rye. I do agree on the Brambleberry Rye, super excited for that one!

I read, elsewhere, an article about the potential releases this year, and the Neapolitan sounded quite interesting to me. If I see it Black Friday, I will pick up a bottle.

Can you be more specific as to what's making you so tired?

I can barely find the "base" beer around here, I doubt any variants will make it soo far (one state over:rolling_eyes:)

Yeah, you'd think their one successful line of beers would be spread out more. But now that CBS and KBS are being called shelf turds by the craft drinking elite, goose island will probably cut production on bcbs and make it brewery release only or some shit.

And the variants will only see release in cities with 100k+ population because it's based on Sofie sales, and naturally larger cities will meet the Sofie quota and Smallltown, USA won't. WTG GI.

Have some cities still sitting on '17 vintages of the OG and variants. Meanwhile, some cities don't even get the variant. Arrrrrrrrse.

BCBS and the hype....all of it, even any new flavors.

I still see plenty 2017 regular cases sitting at my local shop.

CBS and KBS are shelf turds now because they're a shell of their former selves. IMHO, Founders has been on the downhill ever since releasing Bolt Cutter in 2012. Maybe my taste buds have changed, but I don't think so.
Obviously there are many many other reasons that CBS and KBS are easier to get now, including but not limited to (1) there are 50 gazillion other similar beers now that are just as good or better, and (2) people moving on to the next big thing / want something different. Think of the hard-to-get beers of today ... Monkish, Tree House, etc etc - in 8 years they will be easy to get.

I have convinced myself that GI sees this as well, and will have less reg BCBS this year and more variants. I mean why sell a $10 beer when you can sell a $20-30 beer?

It doesn't have anything to do with what the "craft beer elite" are saying, its a fact that these beers don't sell like they used to. I can think of 3-4 stores in my area with this year's KBS still available at MSRP. It was the same with BCBS last year and I expect it to be even worse this year.

Speaking as a fellow NYer of @Daveshek28 BCBS has lasted well into the next year every year since the format change to 16.9oz, not just the ‘17. So this really isn’t much different from the 2 years before that. Hell, I still know more than a few stores I can get ‘17 BCBBW in. Can’t find any variants 2 years in a row, though. I found one Regal Rye in ‘16 and was offered a chance to buy Rare also in ‘16 but that’s too rich for my blood, even at market value.

The prices they sell their vintage BC bottles at in-house is downright appalling. I've never seen anything like it anywhere else. That's the thing that irks me most about Goose. Ugh...

Anyway, see you guys at Goose on Friday
