Actually that was short-lived. The Canadian franchise made a full court press on New England like 10-15 years ago and opened a large number of franchises here. Locally, they moved into a lot of Bess Eaton coffee/donuts franchises which folded around that time. However a majority of the Tim Horton's have now closed.

The only New England state which has any operating now are in Maine, specifically the northern part of the state which is closer to many Canadian cities than Boston. In educating myself just now, it appears there are currently 725 franchises operating in the US with a large majority of these in New York, Michigan and Ohio.

So pretty much Starbucks is the only coffee franchise since the rise of Dunkin that has sustained a presence in New England for a relatively long duration.

This will probably sell like crazy just like the Narragansett Autocrat Coffee Stout upon release.

Nope-He is right; Dunks coffee does suck-just had to let the masshole flag fly for a minute.

Homers, in general, are a special bunch, but massholes are extra special.

Yeah, and we rode Krispy Kreme out of town on a rail when they tried to set up shop as well. For whatever reason we take our Dunkin Donuts seriously out here.

I don't like their hot coffee at all but something about it works fairly well as iced coffee for me (probably the simple fact that cold dampens taste). So I'll be curious how well it works in a cold beer.

Especially the one down the street from my house where they run the water through the same grounds for multiple pots...oh...now it makes sense...they were just practicing their sparging technique.

I think it's kinda cool when local icons pair up. Despite my annoyance with them (ie, they leverage the local color yet mostly brew elsewhere) Narragansett has made a fair dollar doing this with Autocrat, Del's, Allie's, H. P. Lovecraft, etc. Honestly, I think Harpoon gets lost in the shuffle - some of their main beers are good to very good and their special releases are usually enjoyable. If this gives them some publicity, it's cool.

Yeah Krispy Kreme was in and out in the blink of an eye. I finally went to the one that opened down the street once shortly before closing, and at the drive through they asked how many dozen donuts I'd like. I never felt like such an ugly American. Made me question my life up to that point and "what the hell am I doing here?!" lol

Usually skip over Dunkin nowadays and if I'm too lazy to not cold brew a batch in my coffee press I just pay the 99 cents at Cumberland Farms. If I put it in BA terms the equivalent must be if not drinking my homebrew or Trillium beer, I skip past Harpoon and have a Narragansett instead.

Well, it was Maine that I spent most of my time -- and it was a few years back, so that explains my perception. Being from Chicago, where there are no Horton's, it seemed like the popular spot.

They must rebrand as Drunkin' Donuts and have a donut made with stout. In lieu of waxing the bottles, the caps should be glazed with chocolate....

They use that sugar syrup. I drink coffee black and in that case it's better.

Ah yes, that syrup, or a boatload of cream and sugar would make it tolerable.

Are you saying you actually like their coffee black though?

Could it get any more New England than this? Maybe if Sam Adams did it?

Lets see, Harpoon is meh at best and DD might be the worst coffee-shop coffee in NE (I have a hard to even calling the crap they serve coffee). Yeah, hard pass for me...

I hate Dunkin Donuts. Most locations are at busy intersections where there should be no driveways with cars going in and out messing with traffic flow. I am the calmest driver, but am always beeping at the customers. One other one by me is in front of a train station and the customers use the parking spots that are for picking up people from the trains.
