I had it at Bells and it was good, but I have never had good experiences with the Union

Looks good! Be cool to run into some of you there! Please say hi. I'll be wearing a gray ball cap that says Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival.

Is this going to be a giant cluster to get into? In the past has there been ridiculous lines? I'm 7+ hours away so I'd like to know what I'm getting into. lol

At Bells now the BA Cherry Stout is ridiculously complex is it wine (cabernet), is it stout ? Still haven't figured it out yet. The BA batch 9000 is worth a 5 hour drive one way. I drove 2 hours one way today and couldn't be happier with my decision. Judging from the length of the tap line tonight I'm sure its gonna be hectic tomorrow

    I'll sa this.
Bells rocks and is sick brews.
But the atmophere at the brewpub is 100% - pay the bills. No TV, nothing that makes you want to hang out and relax and enjoy.
All about the tourists. And that's all good.

haven't been next door when they have a band, etc. And love the setup.

Just think they need to make it a bit more comfortable and down to earth place.

Couldn't disagree more. Thought it was really down to earth and easygoing place. Relaxation seems much easier without TV's, frankly.

Ahhh, how about the fantastic tap list and like minded people to talk to. I happen to find the lack of TVs refreshing and really enjoy the atmosphere at the pub.

Way offbase here. No tvs means talking to people - those one knows and those one has yet to meet - more than staring blankly at some college football game waiting for your hotwings.

Wow. If you need anything more than good beer and good company to be able to enjoy yourself at Bell's you are going it wrong. 100% pay the bills and all about tourist is 100% BS. Bell's delivers one of the most unique atmospheres, very comfortable and relaxed. TV's are nice but they are not a necessity, there are plenty of sports bars one can drink at. Either you have been spoiled by a few breweries or you have not been to enough which lacks atmosphere, I am glad to spend several hours at Bell's on any given day. Absolutely a great place to drink.

Not sure why anyone would want to watch the Lions play football. There is a place a block away called Shakespeare's, and they will have football on tv and 44 taps.

I do need more than good beer most of the time. I believe atmosphere leads to a better experience with your firends and the beer itself. Sports on TV, music (live if possible), etc.
We should agree to disagree what we consider a Great Place to Drink. If it's Sunday and I have to go down the street to watch Bears Lions, then that's a problem for me. Which was exactly the experience I had last time I went.
So many better places to drink a beeer IMO.

Not always the case. A good game on TV that the group likes makes for a much better experience to me and my friends.
Nothing like staring blankly at your friends either after a couple hours with nothing else to listen too or watch! :grinning:
