Bruts are usually without bitterness, so kinda opposite a WC in a pretty substantial aspect (IMO)

Weird...isn't Brut on the more bitter end of the spectrum in the wine world? Any case, is it just the yeast they're using for beer?

Have you had a Brut IPA?

brut means dry. if you get a brut champagne or sparkling wine it will be dry instead of sweet. i have not had a brut IPA but i imagine it would be dry.

They are using amylase enzymes to break the complex sugars down so that the yeast can consume them. The beer will finish dryer, around 1.000 or below. This ups the alcohol content, lowers the perceived sweetness and is generally pretty "smooth."

Either way, I'm looking forward to checking out BL, I'll be there the 26th of this month.

Yes, but only one. It was definitely dry and may well have been less bitter than a typical WCIPA but what comes to my mind is the absence of sweetness and haziness that I associate with NEIPA.

All the Green Cheek love has me puzzled after trying one of there brut IPA's. Not good at all IMO. Making a judgement call on 1 beer is definitely not fair, but so far I'm not impressed.

On the topic of BL DIPA's, bring back 100 hand slap, that was the shit.

Green cheek makes really solid IPAs but what impresses me most is their lagers. There's almost always a few lagers on tap and after a few tastings at The Bruery or BL it's the perfect place to enjoy a few pints that won't completely kick my ass.

BL has also put on a decent lagers that last time I've stopped by, not to derail the thread

I don't know . . . I think I've about reached my limit on TIPAs. I mostly can barely finish one, even a good one. Gettin' old.

Uh, yeah judging Green Cheek based on a sample size of one, and that one being a Brut IPA is pretty poor statistical analysis. That would've been like judging Valiant as a top notch brewery after only tasting Marshmallow Quantarium.

Yeah, that's why I stated I knew it wasn't fair. Also, it was a pint, so it was a full portion of one beer rather than a sample. But it was not good.

Again not to derail, but IMHO , their lager/pils styles outshine their IPA. However, in complete honesty IPA's are not the first thing I look at when looking at a board.
