Voted "yes" but I think it'd be more accurate to say that I'm ready for fall. Gimme that cold weather, football, and dunkels and festbiers.

Fall beers? I assume you mean Fall 2018? I'm all ready for winter 2022-2023 beers!

As soon as Sierra Nevada releases the Oktoberfest in cans or bottles, I will be picking up a 6 pack . . . even if it's at the end of this month or in August.

No, I am not ready. I enjoy each season, and I very much drink in a seasonal fashion - so Fall beers are best in Fall for my tastes and enjoyment.

What I enjoy in Fall are festbiers, brown ales, Irish Dry Stouts, English Pale Ales (very limited to what is or is not being randomly imported) and Dunkels.

Beers I'm really looking forward to that are must haves every September/October:

Columbus Yakima Fresh Hop (my all time #1 beer)
    SN Oktoberfest
    Bell's Oktoberfest
    Great Lakes Oktoberfest
    Paulaner Oktoberfest
    Ayinger Oktoberfest
    Fat Head's Hop Stalker
    Founders Harvest Ale
    3 Floyds Broo Doo
    Dogfish Head Punkin Ale
    Southern Tier Pumking
    Avery Rumpkin
    Great Lakes Nosferatu

Lots of great beers in those 2 months, and lots of great beers in November/December.

I enjoy those styles in general (they might be my favorite at the end of the day), but the idea of them having their own "season" makes them extra special.

As if Halloween weren't enough reason to love the fall!

So, its the middle of July. Has anyone seen any Fall seasonals on the shelf yet? I know I bought Shiner's Oktoberfest on the 15th of July last year, but I haven't found any on the shelf yet this year.

Anyone do 50/50s (half pumpkin/half Oktoberfest)? A place in PA was doing them with Stegmaier's beers back in 2011? and I thought it was really good. Might have to do it this year again.

That's an interesting one. Ive seen (and tried) 50/50 blue moon and cherry wheat at a restaurant. Other than variations of a black and tan, thats the only beer mix I've tried.

I also worked with a guy that mixed Southern Tier Pumpking and Warlock. He got this recipe from one of his buddies who's a brewer (or at least was) at DFH. Said it was amazing. Still have to try it.

I'm thinking that fall beers come out too soon, and many are marginal by the time the weather turns and folks go looking for them. Also, not sure there is a lot of demand compared to other seasonal beers, at least around here. The beers I see on the discount shelf here are mostly the fall beers - almost never see winter and summer beers on the discount shelf.

They've been arriving late July here. Usually after the 20th.

A beer mix I make every year (Halloween time) is a mix of a Pumpkin Ale and Young's Double Chocolate Stout. My wife refers to this blended beer as a Chocolate Pumpkin beer.

    Cheers!

I can enjoy fall beers all year, so the sooner they come out the better I like it. I can do with a long summer, a cool fall, a short mild winter, and enjoy marzens and stouts through all of it.

That sounds like a winner. What pumpkins do you use for that? Interesting stuff. Has anyone done a mix thread by season?

Drives me crazy when people tell me "let me enjoy my summer first." Ok, you enjoy your summer, I'm not stopping you. But I hate it. It was fun when I was a kid but now I'm a grown ass man and it isn't playing outside all summer, bbqs, swimming etc. It's just hot and miserable. I'm not one of those that enjoys the change in seasons as much unless it's to fall an to winter either. My wife for example, loves fall but also loves summer and hates winter. When it gets close to the end of summer, she is ready for fall. When it gets near the end of winter, she is ready for spring, etc. I'm just not that way. When it gets March in Alabama, I'm ready for October. When it gets February/March, I'm ready for October. In other words, my hate of summer is year round.

To answer your question, yes I'm ready and have been ready since about March of this year when we had our first 80 degree day with a heat index of 95 and 500% humidity. I also don't drink to season as another poster said. We have a beer house near where I work and I can get Oktoberfest (Spaten) year round. I can also get it at either of the 2 German restaurants near me.

The optimum Pumpkin beer is one with lots of pumpkin pie spices since they get 'diluted' by the Chocolate Stout. I typically just buy a less expensive Pumpkin beer (e.g., Saranac) since I figure it is getting blended so....

    Cheers!
