Given the 2nd drop of Tavern Cut, I hope this is the case. I assume it depends on how much Galaxy they were able to grab.

In my dream scenario, galaxy hops become as easy to get as citra, and HB starts brewing GB year-round.

I'm planning to head over to Links this afternoon to get a pour of that Brickstone NEIPA on tap. Which is fortunate because I'm not sure I can pull the trigger on that can art no matter how good it is. :grimacing: :sunglasses:

you got short-changed on that 4 pack of brickstone

i'd put it in between tavern and skrap, so still a very good offering and definitely worth trying.

Yes, six pack lol. I've been loving almost all of the last 3-4 months of HB offerings but Tavern and Skrap missed the mark for me. Each had an after taste I wasn't of fan of. I'll still pick up the next releases if I see them though.

I've only had one can of Tavern so far, but I'd say the only aftertaste I got was a slight bitterness that I think comes from it being a little green. I'm waiting until Friday to have a 2nd can, to see what I think. I thought it was a very promising beer, though.

What are the canning dates for the Brickstone Haze'd that people are digging?

7/6/18. And yes, it's excellent. Big fruity aroma, taste leans to the bitter side. This is a well executed beer for the style.

I would also like to add that the recent More DDH Double Space Boots & K.I.S.S releases friday are tasting great. I am impressed.

IMO, the Brickstone Haz'd Juice is pretty good but not great. Mouthfeel isn't quite as soft as I like, and there is a dry wheat finish that borders on bitterness.

However, there are nice orange citrus & mild lemon notes that give it some flavor at least; it's better than average but not by much.

    YMMV.

Did you mean Hop Butcher Tavern Cut? That can is disgusting, it took a lot for me to suck it up and buy it. The beer wasn't great in my opinion, but I'm hoping it was just too green and some of the harsh flavors will age out in another week or two.

I kind of like the Brickstone can art, though - I get what they're going for with the modernized Arts & Crafts feel. Haven't tried Haz'd Juice yet, but they had at least a couple cases left at Binny's Grand about an hour ago.

I thought the Tavern Cut artwork was comical but could see where some might find it unappealing. I had a can when it was released and loved it, and had it again at a festival last weekend and it was still tasting great.

I had the Brickstone yesterday on tap and agree that it's quite enjoyable. I've enjoyed most of their fresh hoppy beers that make it to Chicago. Having a great tasting, fairly easy to obtain, and canned NEIPA most certainly trumps the 80's central Florida tapestry artwork. I'll be picking these up when I see them for sure.

If people are skipping some of the better beers in Chicago over can art, that is great news to me. May the can art get more off-putting, and my fridge more full!

i can't fathom this thought process, but hey, like sean bond said, more for the rest of us.

regarding tavern, it appears this latest drop is not on the same level of the original...

Bummer. When HC does another drop, the can dates are the same as the first, right? Just trying to clarify

I'd assume this Tavern Cut is from the original batch? So it just isn't aging well?

I assume my cans are from whatever the latest batch is, and it's excellent imo.

If we're being honestly, almost every beer in these threads has pretty diverse opinions about it; check out what people are saying about the newest King Sue cans, Haz'd from Brookstone, etc.
