Yeah some do, but not the ones I've seen posting yet. People like to play the chipped shoulder/targeted innocent card too often and I don't know why.

I worked for UPS for over 7 years and trust me on two things:
-No one cares about your damn fragile sticker. Every box is getting handled identically.
-Your fragile sticker is not going to get your box targeted for kicking or throwing.

I swear some people just assume that UPS and FedEx workers just stand around in an empty warehouse with a handful of boxes. Apparently these employees are pissed off at the few people who decided to send boxes through their warehouse that day. They have time to inspect each box for odd noise (sloshing, etc), where it is going, from who and to who, and maybe pop it open on occasion to steal the contents. And lest I forget - they especially take the time to notice every fragile sticker, yeast sample sticker, this end up sticker, arrows, or any other markings you've placed on the box. Furthermore these guys will always decide to destroy such boxes because the customer is asking for it - they are literally offended that you think you need to tell them a box is fragile or needs to be handled with care.

Seriously folks, they don't care, and most of 'em are too busy or unaware to even notice industry-required paperwork and markings, let alone your meager attempt to keep your box safe.

The one thing I do agree with is to pack the hell out of those boxes. Assume it will be stacked with 200-800 pounds above it, upside down, and that it will fall several times from a height of 1-3 feet (this is from some conveyor systems, not necessarily from being dropped).

Well, I took the advice and set up a FedEx account printed the label and long story short drive 45 minutes to a FedEx store. Beer karma or something was shining down on me because next door was a bottle shop. I couldn't pass this up. I found some wonderful beer. The bombers of FFF were $2-$4 cheaper than the brewery, they had all sorts of Founder (I picked up some harvest ale and holy shit is that amazing!). Hopefully my package will make it to its destination safely now. I'm cracking open another Harvest Ale now to celebrate my first trade. Thanks for the tips

Which location are you using? I've had some issues with the one on Monroe. Jefferson/Hard tend to be no questions asked (had Hard Rd issues a while back though).

Glad to hear someone say it how it is. Maybe most BA's haven't worked these types of jobs? It's obviously not malicious but just the name of the game when dealing with such quantity.

So these workers are allowed to open your package simply because it's marked "fragile?" Doesn't seem like that alone would justify opening up packages.

Pretty sure any of the private carriers can for any reason they deem fit. For instance, glass is typically not insurable so labeling "fragile" may be a red flag. Also, the UPS store is a private franchise, it's not a direct corporate entity, so I think they set their own policies from store to store on things like this - they likely don't want to be held liable for a claim for items that are not insurable in the first place.

Frankly many will tell you that either carrier may or may not be inquisitive, though typically this never goes beyond just asking you what is being shipped.

I have used the Monroe one, but usually I have been dropping mine off at this place on Ridge near Culver called One Stop Packaging & Shipping. I have also dropped stuff off at the Staples in Greece next to Sams Club with no issues.

I agree and I was mostly joking about being labeled "fragile" as asking to have your box kicked. That said, having worked in a warehouse back in the day, I've seen first hand the horrors boxes go through when we would get huge deliveries from Fedex/UPS...

Because of these companies or because of what you guys would do to them in the warehouse?
