I don't think Tavern Cut was produced more than once. I just thought they sent out cans over a week-plus span since they seemingly do larger can runs now (and they seem to be doing more deliveries over a longer period of time for each batch they make). My guess is it's just variability by can and different palates.

well, now i've gone and done it...

just going by the recent negative experiences, i figure it had to be a new batch, but it could be an issue with the canning process...

I just had my last can of Tavern Cut from the first batch and it was great. So if this second drop is from the same batch then I'm going to get some more.

Sorry for the confusion, my Tavern Cut assessment was based on the first round of deliveries and I’m sitting on a couple cans to see if there are changes. I understand this is the juiceboi thread, so I’ll clarify that I’m a NEIPA skeptic (I like some, love a few, and hate most others) and I was mainly just chiming in regarding the can art (though apparently I called it wrong and had the opposite opinion of @KCUnited, no biggie). But I figured I’d offer my opinion on the taste too because this is a beer forum after all.

For what it's worth, I think the can art sucks, too. But HB's can art is all over the place (I don't mean that as an insult), so at this point I don't even really see it; the most I've stared at the cans where when I was pouring them into a glass.

I also think the cans are slightly green, which is why I'm not having another until Friday. If you're not a huge NE guy, I can definitely see it being a turn-off; while I absolutely love only a few NE beers, I like most of them, as long as the ratio of hop-taste to mouthful is good (okay, that sounds weird).

Not entirely on topic (but this is the closest place to it), has anyone had Stone's latest, Fear. Movie. Lions and/or has seen it in a Chicago store recently? Wondering if it's any good (I assume it's not super true-to-style).

My flavor profile is probably different than most but my top five is as follows
    1. Galaxy bowl by HB by far and away this is my fav. I love the galaxy hop and it’s tangy finish.
    2. Marz/Pwks King of Borgs
    3 FR Snoochie Boochies
    4 FR Toro
5 noon Whistle Gummypocalypse before it was distro’d everywhere so mid spring batch if I remember correctly.

Also really liked corridors duke juice em, most recent blazed orange/blazed orange milkshake.

Not a Chicago brewery, of course, but now available in Chicago: I had a can of Due East from Boulder Beer Co., which they advertise as a "New England-Style IPA".

Don't rush out for this one; decent lemon & wheat flavors and it's not bitter, but it's super mild, has a thin mouthfeel that doesn't match the style & is overall pretty dull.

    My 2 cents!

I'll say Haz'd Juice is solid. I'd reach for this as an alternative to Maplewoods Son of Juice if priced comparably, but it's like $6-7 more expensive for 8 more oz of beer.

I was finally able to shake the cold I had and cracked a can of Toro...... absolutely fantastic! Tons of peach, pineapple, ripe melon, some orange, some grapefruit, and a nice malt backbone to balance it all out out. Also, the alcohol is completely hidden and drinks well below 10%. Out of all the local haze I've drank, this is the only beer that has tasted similar to the handful of treehouse beers I've had. Truly a wow beer for me and can't wait to try the lower ABV offerings from FR. Now I have to get over to the taproom for more ASAP!

EDIT: It doesn't drink like 10%, but definitely feels like it.... Caution: Juicy! Drink Slow.

I don't have a top 5 (mostly going through Untappd to confirm), but these are my thoughts:

Galaxy Bowl continues to be an overall favorite; the hop + yeast combo HB has going there is just killer.

Sailor's Kush by HA, while not entirely to style was hazy enough and super-hopped enough that I'm including it. One of my all-time faves from HA, and I thought it was incredible once you got past the greenness of the first few days (it was pretty awesome even then).

I didn't have the latest Blazed Orange (milk shake?), but the batch earlier this year was fantastic. Citra is a cheat code to hop (no pun intended) to the top of my favorites, though.

Forbidden Root's NE sour IPAs may be my favorite new "thing" of the year; I went from completely ambivalent towards the concept to loving them and being mad they're not in distro.

Corridor's fruited NE IPAs are a great way to counter my increasing "haze malaise," while still having that fully body that I enjoy. Bendy Straw with Raspberry was a lot of fun, and I actually enjoyed drinking that more than Squeezit OG (which is a better beer, but is a more familiar profile to me) last week.

Speaking of departures from the familiar, I picked up a 6-pack of Stone's "West Coast NE" beer (Fear. Movie. Lions) at Binny's Grand (thanks for nothing, guys, had to find it myself!), and I'll be trying that Friday night. If it's halfway decent, a sixer of 16 oz cans for $12.99 is a steal.
