    JULY 4th RELEASES
    Hours = Noon - 5pm
Longoven: Chapter One is the next collaboration with dear friends at Longoven. In early 2017, our Head Brewer Matt Tarpey and Chef Andrew Manning came together and created something special. A vision from Chef Manning to make a beer for wine drinkers that paired well with seafood and other culinary dishes created by the masterminds at Longoven. We started with a complex, yet simple malt bill of American pale malt, unmalted wheat, and a touch of rye. During the mash-in process, we added Sea Lettuce(a leafy seaweed) courtesy of Pleasure House Oysters (one of the most focused Oyster purveyors in south eastern VA). When it came time to sparge, we laid a bed of Sea Hair(a fine, hair-like seaweed) on top of the grain beforehand. After the boil was over and the addition of some German hops, we added some Sea Beans and whole Oysters. We then barrel fermented the beer in freshly dumped French oak red wine barrels with a blend of mixed culture, our house culture, and a small percentage of dry Chablis yeast. The beer fermented and conditioned in the barrels for 12 months. We then extracted the beer from the barrels and bottle conditioned it for 4 months. The results are amazing! The initial aroma/flavor profile has a beautiful oceanic, salinity to it. After your second sip, the beer just completely opens up to an incredible minerality. Notes of subtle buttery oak, ripe pear, light tannic characteristics, zippy green apple(acid presence similar to green apple also), honey-suckle, Sauvignon Blanc skin, wet earthy aromas, wildflowers, with a wonderfully balanced effervescence. A truly remarkable beer that we are honored to be a part of. And in honor of Longoven officially opening their brick and mortar, we are pleased to share with you this special creation.
    - approx 1200 bottles as well as draft pours available tomorrow. $22+tax/750ml bottle. 4x bottles per person.

    - **We also filled a limited amount of 1.5L magnums of Longoven: Chapter One. There will approx 50x 1.5L magnums available tomorrow. $65+tax/1.5L magnum. 1x 1.5L magnum per person.*

**We also would like to present to you something even more special. Longoven: Chapter One Grand Cru-STILL. This is a very special bottling. Our Head Brewer Matt and Chef Manning hand selected the most exceptional barrel and packaged the single barrel completely still(uncarbonated). Replicating the experience of sampling straight from the barrel, Longoven: Chapter One Grand Cru-STILL is restrained, refined, and just a magical experience.
    - This offering was packaged exclusively in 1.5L magnums and will not be available on draft.

    - Approx 50x 1.5L magnums will be available. $70+tax/1.5L magnum. 1x 1.5L magnum per person.

I’m going to be passing through Richmond on the way to the beach next Thursday. Is there anywhere in the area I can get veil cans that would be open around noon?

Nope. Brewery only for both. Best bet would to post in a couple of the local fb groups and maybe someone could help you out and meet up on Thurs as you pass through. A lot of good people I have seen on the pages happy to help out asking nothing in return but always helpful if you have something to trade or provide thank you beers

    - Richmond Beer Elite
    - Behind the Veil (Trades Only)
    - Behind the Veil
    - Under the Crossing

As a consolation, The Answer opens up at Noon on Thursday so swing through there to grab Crowlers of Joose or some of their house IPAs.

Thanks for the tip Tomcat. Unfortuantely will probably pass on Answer. I'll be driving through on the way to a bachelor party that I'm trying to supply with a decent amount of good beer and $15-20 crowlers are at too high of a price point for the situation.

    Hello everyone,

I am working a good bit south of Richmond for the next few weeks, and at some point I am hoping to make the long drive to visit. There's a chance it will be completely dictated by my schedule, and I won't have much say, but on the off chance I can plan the trip how I want, I was wondering if you guys can provide some information as to when can releases normally are (what days of the week), how long they last, etc.

    Thanks in advance

Can releases are Tuesday at 4 pm. They have been lasting a long time, they typically have 1-2 cans last at least until the next Tuesday release. Line have been a lot shorter too, there might be 30-40 people lined up when the doors open at 4 but there's not usually any line by 5. At this point I can't think of any canned beer they could release that would possibly sell out on the same day.

Case in point, they still have every can they dropped last Tuesday the 10th available today. It is pretty cool you can walk in there on a Wednesday and there are 10 brands in cans + a wild bottle.

Agree with Beernuts - can't imagine what it would take for a can to sell out on day one right now.

Thanks for the replies! Very glad to hear that beers last to the weekend. I actually had not yet checked to see that during the week they don't open until 4pm. I start work no later than 5pm each day while I am here (going till about 3am). Thus, given the 2+ hour drive, when I decide to make this trek I won't be able to do it during the week with the late open time. Glad I'll still be able to snag some cans.

I haven't been paying attention to the Veil much lately, but why are cans lasting so long now? Hype dying down? Quality issues?

Seems like a combination of producing a little more and the hype dying down.

Anyone gone to one of the movie nights they’ve been having this summer? I’ll be in town in two weeks and see they’re showing Weekend at Bernie’s, for which I am completely down. What’s the setup like for those?

Does the parking lot still smell like shit covered in year old garbage? Asking for a friend.

They installed a new containment system under the spent grain silo and are working on one for the new grain silo. It helps because you no longer have the smelly water running all over the parking lot, but its still there so there is still some bad smell.
