Yes, it is a great beer!

I must admit that the kick is gentle but deadly! But it's all good!

Thanks to @lordofthewiens for opening the NBS this week. I am starting my last week in Germany, so I am enjoying a nice humid evening outside on the roof. Will miss this spot a lot. I am not really into golf, but having a sport that you like really helps with lots of things that life throws at you. My new beer for today is Gideon's Pancake Stack by Omnipollo and 3 Sons Brewing Co. This is an imperial stout with coffee and maple syrup, and aged in Woodford Reserve barrels for one year.

Poured from fridge temp into a snifter. Pours jet black with little head. Micro bubbles lacing the inside surface of the glass. The nose immediately radiates from the glass, overwhelming the senses. The initial thought is literally a big stack of pancakes doused in maple syrup. It's always tough to call these beer, but it sure smells like heaven. A true treat. Getting a slight amount of coffee on the nose, and a good amount of vanilla and marshmallow. Smells creamy and syrupy. Taste follows the nose nicely, although a good burst of coffee comes through immediately. Bourbon comes through nicely here. Getting nice chocolate, maple, and dark fruit flavors. Cherries and blackberries mostly. The mouthfeel is incredible. Completely coats the mouth. Sticky, creamy, and robust. Overall, this is a sweet bomb with some really nice maple and coffee notes. The barrel aging definitely compliments this nicely. Cheers!

I definitely will, hope the rains holds off, but having 5 breweries within 10 miles of me will help if it rains.

    Cape May summer catch
    ..Very cloudy yellow/gold color
..just a bit thin with a decent amount of carbonation
..Aroma is citrus, mostly lemon and grapefruit, some grain/wheat, spice and yeast
..Taste was mildly bitter, the citrus was very forward. The grain was mild but still noticeable
..overall it was a bit tame but made for a decent summer beer that could easily go with all types of food[IMG]

Good Sunday NBS people, back at some moderate beer drinking after pretty much a month off due to the doc saying I need to get weight and blood pressure down so today I will treat myself. Getting started with a gem from Hill Farmstead Double Citra, a DIPA clocking in at 8% but drinking like it is 6%. This beer is excellent only compliant is I wish I had a case of it!! Cheers hop everyone has a great Sunday.

Appearance 4.75 - Pours cloudy yellow with nice thin white cap that settles to a thick ring around the glass. Nice sheets of lacing down the glass.

Aroma 4.75 - Huge pinch in the nose of citra hops great juicy slightly bitter aroma of orange and a touch of grapefruit. Nothing else needed.

Taste 5 - Taste is a super balanced combination of sweet orange and bitter citrus peel/grapefruit. Could not ask for a much better taste, no bells and whistles just in your face hops. Alcohol is well hidden.

Feel 4.75 - Medium bodied very soft mouthfeel slightly dry finish.

Overall 4.85 - Overall one of the best DIPAs I have had, the taste is really balanced very easy drinking for 8%.

L - 1/2 finger head quicky dissipates to nothing. Body is a translucent, deep orange.

S - sweet orange candy, herb. A little faint on aromas.

T - dank candied orange slices. Smooth middle. Low bitterness. Moderate-high sweetness. Low booziness.

    F - medium-full body with below-average carb.

    O - Too sweet and rather one-dimensional.

Hey again everyone and Happy Two Beer Sunday! I sure did not want to cheat this Sunday by reviewing a beer I tasted earlier in the week so here I am again. Today I had to decide between the Breuery Terreux Frucht Cranberry and Orange or Bruery Terreux Ngongo. Thank you so much @2beerdogs for giving me a great box of beer that I can really play with in my kitchen. I decided to make pasta with summer squash and basil so to me that meant no honey and no floral like chamomille. I did not want to take a chance that saison might appear to have flavors that were too sweet for my dish. The cranberry berliner was a great choice.

Pours pink and with a short fizzy white head that fell quickly. Very hazy. This beer had the least funk of all three berliners. The orange peel on this noise is spicy and combined in a very feminine way with what I will describe as it's cranberry tomboy counterpart. The cranberry is such a great fruity smell that is light and without the sugar that you are accustomed to seeing with it it has a fresh and very vivacious scent. Minty hop herbal and a touch of cracker to whisper sweetly as the beer fills your nose with the fresh cranberry scent. Light funk. Drinks crisply and bubbly with just enough sour to excite the palate much in the same way that a pinot noir can excite the palate with a measure of prickly acidity. Quick smooth finish and hardly any aftertaste except for the fruit.

The kitchen is now closed for cleaning. See you all next Sunday! =)

    look: 4 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4 | overall: 4.5

Appearance: Golden straw color around the edges and a deep amber to very light brown color in the middle. This is opaque. No visible carbonation. Limited head retention, with just a ring around the edge of the glass and some sparse, small bubbles sitting on top. This looks like your typical hazy IPA and is attractive in that sense, without going overboard and looking like dirty pond water or turkey gravy.

Smell: Its hard for me to distinguish between the hops and the fruit additions here, but this has a familiar aroma I get from some Citra and Mosaic beers which is a sweet and tart candy aroma that I would describe as crushed up sweet tarts. This could easily be the pomegranate too. It’s a great aroma and cuts through everything else present on the nose here including, ripe mango, grapefruit, orange, lemon, dankness,
cat pee, pine, and some lighter stone fruits including peach and apricot. There’s a bread dough component as well. There’s a sugary sweetness that could be attributed to the marzipan. And it reminds of the last time &telier used marzipan.

Taste: This is nice, in that the nose lead me to believe this beer would be sweet. It is not. Unripened mango, a slight level of acidity, and it’s a dry beer with a slightly bitter finish. Oddly enough this also reminds me of some flavors you’d expect from a dry white wine with some flavors of white grape and pear as well. And I think my mind goes there due to the acidity that present in this beer.

Mouthfeel: Minimal carbonation and a smooth, creamy mouthfeel.

Drinkability: This beer is highly drinkable. I really enjoy how the nose is sweet, but then the flavor profile is rather dry and bitter. It makes for a very nice contrast. As much as I’ve enjoyed drinking this beer with no food, I think it would pair excellently with some food. A nice salad with pear, mixed greens, grilled chicken and pistachios and some goat cheese

Tired Hands Wiccan Worship Circle Dark Lagerbier

Happy Sunday, BAs. I've been sitting on this one for a while, and decided it was time to give it a whirl.

Wiccan Worship Circle sits a very dark brown in the glass with a thin finger of creamy, gray-tinted tan foam. The beer is dark enough that I didn't even notice the bottle was green until I started pouring. The head quickly settles into a thin crown and leaves spotty lacing.

It has a bready, lager aroma with a little sulfur and just a twinge of plum-like sourness beneath.

That fruity sourness is much stronger in the taste, dominating the first impression. A touch of the breadiness comes through on the backend, though, contributing to a soft, rounded finish that includes a hint of coffee and some residual sweetness. More of the plum-like tartness continues into the aftertaste.

It's medium bodied with a soft feel and just enough carbonation.

This is a weird-ass, style-busting beer. It's relatively light and drinkable, but still much fuller-bodied than any Euro dark lager I've tried before and it has a real potpourri of flavors going in it. I bet this would be hella tasty around Halloween.

    Have a great week, everyone.

At Twin Elephant Brewing Foggiest Nontion an American IPA brewed with lactose 6.6% ABV. This brew pours hazy with a thin white quickly disappearing head. The hops used are Lemondrop, Citra and Mosaic. They supply most of the aroma and taste. The mouth feel is full and soft very nice. The finish is a little sweet. Good beer

    Schlafly raspberry ale
    ..pours a copper red
..just below medium body with medium carbonation as well but it seemed to dissipate fairly fast
..Aroma malt, grain, cracker and raspberry as well as peach which seemed odd
..Taste was very similar, dry and not sweet at all. The raspberry didn't taste artificial but it also wasn't very strong either
..overall it was a little underwhelming, okay but not memorable for any good reasons[IMG]

    NBS beer #2

    Lightweight

The Alchemist Brewery and Visitors Center
American Blonde Ale / 4.40% ABV

    4/5 rDev -1.5% | Score: 4.06
    look: 4.5 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4

L-The beer pours a clear straw with an excellent 3 finger white frothy head. The head lingers for a while before settling into an uneven thick film. Lacing is excellent.
S- Hops lead the way in with an earthy, pithy aroma. The malt contribution here is very crackery and not overly noticeable.
T-Much like the nose the hops lead in. That earthy, pithy aspect of the nose translates here to a light bitterness. The malt is easier to detect here, but is very crackery and neutral overall.
F- Mouthfeel overall is on the lighter side of medium. Carbonation after the initial pour is very light. The beer has a slickness I usually associate with bigger IPA's. This really allows the flavors to linger on your tongue. The beer finishes quite dry despite the slickness. The dryness compensates for the slightly thicker overall mouthfeel.
O- Alchemist really takes a lackluster style of beer and elevates it to the highest levels here. Plenty of hop flavor made greater by the slightly thicker mouthfeel while keeping the finish dry inviting more sips. At 4.4% you'll be hard pressed to find a beer which packs more flavor into that small of an ABV. Fantastic session beer here. Recommended.
