    Kettle sour. Period.

Yes, I believe the title of the thread was "affordable sour/wild ales." Tough to find an affordable sour that's barrel-aged. For my dollar (US), Westbrook Gose is the best cheap sour you can get. Exclamation point.

I don't think you can beat Rodenbach Grand Cru @ $9 for a 750ml and now available in 4 packs for around $15. That's a world class beer that's readily available and relatively affordable. The orginal Rodenbach is good too and available in 6 packs for around the same price.

Oh, and of course Lindeman's Cuvee Rene.

The one and only can of that I had was loaded with DMS. Salty sour creamed corn. It's pretty overrated.

There was definitely a vegetal characteristic to the hot side sours that I've had from them. Just goes to show that a beer can sell well and not be a technically sound beer if the consumer doesn't know what the beer is supposed to taste like.

Depends on the beer. Weekday beers are very expensive, but the Frucht series are well priced.

Considering Crooked Stave Rosé comes in sixers at that price, I've gotta say nope. Rosé is oak-aged and fermented with a mixed culture instead of kettle-soured, too. And it has fruit. It's a much better value due to all those reasons (and it tastes better to me).

I like Westbrook Gose and the variants thereof, but I think you're fanboying a little hard here.

I like the Evil Twin sours.... Sour Bikini/Nomader Weisse. Both affordable.

Recently had Witterke Wild which was 2.99 for a single 500 mL can and very solid. Others would be Crooked Stave Petite Sour Rose, lindeman cuvée Rene, and Avery Apricot Sour.

Still need to make a venture over to the shop for the next haul, but I definitely have some to keep an eye out for now! I appreciate you guys, to be totally honest I think I’d been sucked into the labeling hype, like most of these quality options were probably being passed up due to looking very “traditional”.. Gotta remember to tell myself, the can/bottle art isn’t everything, it’s whats inside that counts lol
