Headed to Jacksonville, FL

Bearded Pig is definitely recommended. I cook on a competition BBQ team and i willingly eat there!

 

I'm ticked that "My Boss's Boss" couldn't be crowlered. That beer was awesome.

I settled on PDA instead.

 

Anybody not trying to sip on some southernswells “just add the umbrella” is missing out. Perfect crushable pineapple NE ipa

I happened to be in Jax for work and swung by Southern Swells by chance. Was blown away. I think the guy behind the bar was shocked at how many crowlers I brought home, but I had to share the wealth with the Columbia guys. Their NEIPAs were outstanding and they had several on tap that were all distinguishable.

I thought imperial karate in the garage was world class.

 

Any info on to go options at these breweries would be appreciated.

 

All those breweries have crowler machines except Green Room. Aardwolf and green Room normally have bottles to go of certain beers. Swells depends on if they had a can release recently or not. Intuition and Atlantic have cans of their core beers distributed through jax.

 

Will be in Jacksonville/Jax Beach Weds 10/24 - Sun 10/28 for the Cocktail Party. Any special releases planned for any of the local breweries during that time frame?

 

Aardwolf had a bottle release this past Sunday and possibly will still have some bottles left when you are here next week. It was a colab with Finback called Robowhale. It is excellent, and at $15 bottle, very affordable. Rum BA imperial sweet stout w/ smoked pineapple, coffer, and orange. If they are sold out, they have several other good bottles/cans for sale in their cooler.

Southern Swells has a can release about twice/month, so good chance they will have one Saturday 10/27. Best NE IPAs in town by far (maybe in all of FL). Up there with Civil Society.

Main and Six is having its 1 year anniversary party somewhere end of Oct/early Nov. They will have some excellent beers (and bottles I hear) for that. No date yet.

Reve is a new brewery that is definitely worth checking out.

 

Thanks for the info! Planning to hit all the ones you mentioned. Been to Aardwolf and Southern Swells in past visits. Look forward to checking out Main & Six and Reve.

 

Reve is great if you like stouts or sours. Their IPA game is lacking, especially compared to Southern Swells.

 

Main and Six anniversary party is November 10th, but still worth a visit while you are here! There seemed to be plenty of Rum Barrel Robowhale at the release Sunday, so hopefully some will be left over. Completely agree regarding Swells and Reve!

 

Thanks for the info! Missed the downtown breweries this trip since stayed at Jax Beach. Southern Swells and Reve were favorite stops, enjoyed Green Room too. Will have to wait until next year to try Main & Six.

 

Just got back from quick weekend trip. Hit Southern swells for the can release Sat. Everything on tap was fantastic. On the beertenders advice I next went to Reve (owned by Greenroom). I tried 11 beers. 9 were absolutely amazing. . Sours and Stouts for days.

Hit main & sixth, nice place beer was solid,. Then Sunday hit up Aardwolf for White Russian release. Solid stouts, the Lime gose was meh but the hazy pale ale was a winner.

 

A lot of good tips here for Jacksonville. Does anyone know of good breweries/bars that stay open until 1 or 2 AM on Friday night? Arriving late and would like to grab a beer or two.
