By locals you mean the guys that rant and rave about anti-inbev and then when Black Friday rolls around are the ones camping out the night before right?

Didn't you hear? Since Prop is "just chocolate" this year they're going to do a Bramble Ramble instead of Prop Day. Tour bus, t-shirt cannons, the whole works. Stops will be announced with 15 minute warnings on a secret GI Twitter account and open to all (as long as you're pre-registered).

Per tenemu, sounds like everything now has a bottle label outside of Horchata. See you on Black Friday.

That sounds awful. Just what every BCBS drinker thinks "Man, this isn't sweet enough, I wish they'd add some sugar..." I got my hopes up when I saw Tarte Tatin I figured it would be BCBS aged in apple brandy barrels....guess not.

I think I'm the only person on this site that prefers the sweeter BCBS (years like 2014, and variants that are on the sweet side).

I have generally seen very few reviews that think that BCBS is sweet. I have a bitter sensitivity, and I don't even think it's sweet. That said, is it sweeter than some other stouts? Sure, but never though it was sweet (personally).

I don't consider it that sweet. 2014 was one of the sweeter batches (due to the brutal winter we had, I think), and Prop 15 was much-maligned for how sweet it was (and I liked it). What I meant is that I actively prefer BCBS when it's sweeter than what most would consider the "typical" BCBS profile.

I do as well. I also think there have been more than a few releases where I was pleasantly or unpleasantly surprised based on what was on the label. I remember not being all that impressed with pink peppercorns in a DL variant a couple of years ago and that one turned out alright. Guess we will find out.

Inbev is out to make sure you have no money leftover to spend on the competition.....

After reviewing the tenemu article....all but 2 of the 10 offerings have 500 ml bottle labels. So my thought (or hope) is they release 8 of the 10....everything but the horchata and tarte. Only two without 500 ml label. So that would leave the 8 as

    Neapolitan
    Coffee
    Reserve
    Bramble
    Vanilla
    Prop
    Wheatwine (replaces barleywine this year)
    Base

That's a ton, but reading between the lines there still seems a desire by goose to fully rectify the 2015 infection issues coinciding with pleasing the clamoring for the return of highly rated sought after variants (vanilla/bramble). To me, the release of 8 bourbon county bottles on black Friday achieves that goal and then some. If quality is on par then it would put bourbon county back on the map after so much great barrel aged competition around the country and locally has caught up, IMO. Revolution is a great local example of that. Here is to hoping this black Friday is the best yet! Cheers

The smartest thing Goose could do from a marketing standpoint is release 1 variant of these every Friday for two months starting with a Black Friday kick off...

I agree there's great BA competition around, but I don't think Bourbon county was ever off the map. Just ask people who got to Lincoln Park at 5:15 last year and didn't get any variants...

Yeah, I can't think of many local options that I'd put at/above BCBS (and can't comment much about national ones, since I don't trade), but there are certainly some other beers that serve as an excellent replacement. Ryno's example of Rev is perfect, because while I don't think Deth's Tar is quite on BCBS's level, price and availability are firmly in its favor (at least initially; bottles of BCBS were popping up at my Whole Foods for months).
