FWIW I got to swing by Friday and it was noticeably improved and not having the water running everywhere is nice too. Not perfect, but better.

They were setting up for it Friday but I didn't stay for the movie. There was a blow up screen for the projector on the side of the building where the doors face the lot.

It's nice to swing by on a release day relatively close to opening and be in and out in 10 mins.

"Just a quick update on what's happening at Black Heath Meadery this Saturday 8/4. Beginning at 12 noon we will release batch 2 of Double Barrel Double Vanilla Weight of the World. Batch 2 was aged for one additional year in a Dickel Tennessee Whiskey barrel with nearly 2 pounds of vanilla beans. Rich, boozy, and decadent, we are very excited to share this one with you. This mead will also be available by the glass. We anticipate approximately 400 bottles, so this will be one per person.

Not to be outdone, one week later (8/11) we will release a new variant of DBWOTW, this one aged one additional year in a Maple Rum cask from Mad River distillers in VT. This batch will be around 250 bottles also one per person."

Will be passing through Richmond this saturday, should I be able to snag cans fairly easily in the afternoon?

i would think you would be fine on Saturday. Today they had 8 different beers available in cans and 2 bottles. If you check Instagram or Facebook, they usually post every morning what is available.

You should not have a problem scoring cans. if you may be looking for something else check out Triple Crossing. They are releasing Clever Girl and Valhalla cans today. With the rain today, I expect both should last through tomorrow afternoon. They should split the remaining cans between both locations Sat. and Downtown is closer if you plan to stop by Veil too.

I would not be surprised if Valhalla is gone today.

Anyone who missed out on the Black Heath collab Batch 2 over the weekend.

Greetings RVA! Thanks for all the love this Saturday for Mead Day! We still have bottles of batch 2 of the Double Barrel Double Vanilla Weight of the World. They will go on sale tomorrow, Tuesday, at 2pm. 2 per person. We will also place approximately 60 bottles online. These are to allow folks who can’t physically make it to Meadery that day to acquire bottles. Also 2 per person and pick up at Meadery only. Proxy is fine. Thanks!!

I am not an hour further south than I was when I was trying to visit. I do wish I was closer - would have happily visited this weekend for the release. My wife loves mead, and I try to pick some up when I travel for work.

Anyone in the DC area regularly make the trek down for veil releases? I'll be in the area Aug 18-23 and can bring out some goodies from SD. Used to live in Charlottesville and was hoping to get my fix. Alternatively, any places around DC/NOVA have veil on tap?

Hello. On tap you can go to Churchkey in DC or Rustico in Arlington. They will usually have a couple of taps with Veil.

I know what you meant, but the way it was worded with punctuation in its' location makes it sound like Child support has Loral, Yellow bugatti and Adjunct Lord Horns!

Oh my! That beer has everything!

    Then I reread .

I was just thinking yesterday when I saw that release how great it is that they have such a variety of cans available on any given day now. I haven't been there as much as I'd like lately so I haven't had many of these batches, but if Soft Style is any indication of their current IPAs they're doing more things right - that beer is pretty great.

That’s a pretty good list. I like that they’re serving Coalesce as a palate break, it would be nice if they had something like Dusty Roads or Master Shredder on too.

I'll be volunteering but I passed on paying for a ticket when I heard it was all funk/sours. I really wish there were some hops in the mix. Admittedly I don't know many of these guest beers so maybe there are but it's surprising to me they don't have at least like bluemiata or headless or something on tap.

On the topic of Veil, anyone see them feeding the rumors they're opening a spot in Norfolk? Some comments say restaurant with a small brew system but should have more details coming soon.
