I feel ike quality Shaun was putting out at Ram (both IPAs and stouts) still haven’t been achieved at mOrE. I prefered Juicy, NE Slapper, Hop Slush, Hops on Hops instead of 98% morE’s offerings (DDH Double Space Boots and DDH Loose Candies are pretty solid); and the Side Note stouts, especially the last 2-3 + Chaos are better (to me) than anything that’s been put out in that style at MorE.

I just hope it’s a matter of still taking some time to dial things in at MoRE, and not that Ram just has better resources or that MORE is living off of Shaun’s rep & hype while at Ram to push their product.

I’ll still be supporting more because I like the food, descent/friendly vibe and my fiancé loves their smoothies... I mean, frooted beers. But at some point it just may be too much of a hastle and I’ll find something else interesting.

I expect tomorrow to be crazy. The Frooted releases bring the crowds and this is one of the last remaining summer Fridays

I think a lot of this is expectations and *hazy* memories. People expect every beer to be the best IPA or the best stout now. Its tough to live up to that hype.

I would argue that Double Rainbow and Karma are some of the best stouts in the country. I mean, he won Fobab and GI stout fest. I haven't tried Frooted yet but will prob stop over tomorrow to find out about this smoothie life.

Maybe I just didn't have a taste for them back then, but I think that the More stuff easily outstrips the old Ram beers. Also, Dusty is a great low abv hazy and I'll always pick some up.

The only (non stout) beer I’ve really liked has been DDH Dusty. It’s excellent. DDH Loose Candies is pretty good, but after that, everything is either decidedly average or overpriced, and many times both.

I’ll still visit when in the area, as it’s a cool spot and a good time, but there’s nothing available at More that isn’t available on shelves, in terms of quality.

I would think this is a joke, but with Chicagoland beer scene being part of the equation... kind of leaning towards this being a serious post.

I honestly couldn't tell, then convinced myself it has to be true.

Agreed, and I don't really even find their stouts to be all that incredible. Some are great no doubt, but compared to what we have in the Chicago market I wouldn't say they are in a class of their own or anything like that.

Seeing the crazy lines and stuff in this thread makes me feel they are simply overhyped.

Or maybe I suck at drinking beer, who knows.

Fat and of questionable intelligence. #RecycledMyOwnJoke

Also, Best Kept Secret and DDH KISS were both great haze, broz.

Not having had any of their stouts, but knowing that they are pastry stouts...I am curious what those people that like them would choose to drink in terms of a serving.

Look, I can put away a 16.9bcbs. I prefer the smaller size, but the 16.9 isn't a chore - it's just a timeline issue. I recently tried a pastry stout, and it was so aggressive in terms of both sweetness and palate fatigue that about 4oz is all I want. I'm curious if people feel this way about the More stouts?

When they put pours on draft at 5oz, I always wish there was more in the glass. I would happily drink 10oz on draft and could put more down at home if I was making an evening of it

I generally like an 8-10oz pour of a sweeter tasting pastry stout. Sometimes I've wanted more and very few times have I preferred less. One example of wanting less than a 8-10oz pour is Hubbard's Cave El Zacaton. That was a total diabetes in a glass. I didn't even want the 5oz pour in front of me.

I’d like to try these beers, but seeing as this is the 3rd most interesting release in Chicagoland today, and the other two are much closer, I’ll pass. I’ll be at Half Acre instead, and wondering how I can get over to Pipeworks.

Good point about the other releases. However, I am terrified of Chicago traffic this weekend with a perfect storm of insanity

They are not overly sweet like some of the Angry Chair stuff. I would gladly drink 10oz.

Thanks for the comments. Only a single data point for trying a pastry stout, so always trying to learn more before ever trading for more.
