That's my feeling is well, but the bartender mentioned that it's a very divisive beer. Consumers tend to love it or hate it, with very little middle ground. So he was fairly sure there would still be cans of Creamsicle, but wasn't as certain about the Juice Jr.

Well they may have added a limit but definitely no limit when they opened.

what was the limit last week?

it was 2 per at NE location yesterday

I called and they said Juice Jr. was almost gone, my sister was staying about a mile away and sold out before she could get there

Last week the limit at the brewpub was one 4 pack per customer, for both beers.

apparently they upped it at some point in the brewpub last week, Friday they posted both 4 packs and different crowlers on IG and stated no limits

I was asking about limits at the NW location the previous Saturday, they had to be lower if those lasted until early the following Saturday

That's interesting. I stopped by on the previous Monday, and at least at that point was told it was one 4 pack per customer for each of the two beers. They had a huge supply at the time (bartender told me they had plenty, so no worries about waiting to get my check before grabbing my 4 pack).

The Saturday releases seem to be a work in progress in terms of setting limits. I can't recall hearing what the limit was for Peanut Brother and Blueberry Muffin at the NW location (maybe two 4 packs per customer?), but as GN hadn't done a can release in a few weeks, they were probably expecting a massive crowd. As neither beer came close to selling out, it sounds like they subsequently increased the purchase limit at the NW location.

They haven't been doing can releases for all that long, and my guess is that they're still feeling their way when it comes to figuring out appropriate purchasing restrictions.

    This week's "Friday" update:

    1. Beer Cans in PDX: Come to our NW location Saturday, 7-21-18 at 12 noon pm at 2444 NW 28th Ave, Portland, OR 97210 if you’d like to take home 16 oz cans of Double Stack! We have over 200 cases of this delicious breakfast stout available to you and also a bunch of Orange Creamsicle cans we saved as well. Don’t forget your Double Stack coffee mug
    2. Future Sour Beers: Summer fruit season is well underway and we’ve been playing with a ton of fresh fruit lately. We are trying to significantly up our sour beer game so we are filling fresh wine barrels from our neighbors at Boedecker Cellars with local fresh Hood River fruit. We received hundreds of lbs of organic sweet blueberries from Hood River Blueberry and also hundreds of lbs of tart Montmorency cherries from Evans Fruit this week. A lovely saison is being added into those barrels with our house culture that will add a pleasant tart and complex funk to the beer over time. If you like sour beer, ask us how these barrels are tasting later this year!
Secret Keg: Keep your eyes peeled to our Instagram mid-next week as we happily received 1 slim keg of Economic Realities, our Coffee-IPA collaboration with Other Half from Brooklyn. We will announce early next week which night we will tap the keg, but most likely it will be Tues or Wed.

    This week's Friday update:

    1. New Tanks: Today we received 2 sick new 60 bbl fermenters! What does this mean for you? That we will have more beer! We should have no problem supporting our future NW restaurant and also can brew bigger batches of your favorites like Blueberry Muffin, Double Stack, and more in the new 60 bbl tanks while continuing to innovate with cool new experimental beers in our 7, 15, and 30 bbl fermenters. Fun fact for those that don't know that 1 bbl = 2 standard kegs...so our new 60 bbl fermenters can theoretically produce 120 kegs at a time (except for the fact that hops and fruit take up a lot of room in the tank, so we actually yield a lot less).

    2. Saturday Can Release @ NW: We will have Super Ripe (the double IPA version of @PasteMag’s #1 IPA in the country, Ripe), as well as MoMo, a hazy IPA double dry-hopped with tons of citrusy Motueka hops from New Zealand. We may also have some more Double Stack for sale as well . #canrelease info and process here if you've never been to one of our releases yet.
Beers @ Alberta: We have some super rad new beers like MCA in this IPA, a tribute to the late, great Adam Yauch (MCA) of the Beastie Boys, as well as 19 other beers including for the first time ever on tap, Blueberry Pancakes! Many of you know this as the secret beer you can order and have our servers cuvee for you a Double Stack and Blueberry Muffin slice of decadence in a glass, but we masterfully blended a batch ourselves this time, just for you!

Hoping to get over there early. I'm at work right now, but expect to take off from the office before 1:00. Am hoping to get over there around 1:00 or so. Assuming you're stopping by right after the GN release pick-up, we should definitely be there around the same time.

Have fun at GN. The MoMo sounds especially intriguing.

I am aiming for 2:00 myself, though I suspect it will be closer to 2:30. I'll keep an eye out for any familiar faces.

I'll probably still be there at 2:00, but 2:30 is probably pushing it. I've long since learned that bad things tend to happen if I linger too long at a beer fest.

That being said, there are a LOT of interesting beers I want to sample there today (the BA Palo Santo Marron is at the top of the list, but is really just one of many).

I, too, have suffered the ill effects of a new instigator showing up at a beer fest just as I was about ready to leave.

I am trying accelerate the Saturday chores so I can get there earlier. If you're still there when I arrive, I'll come over and say Hi.

    Hey Guys,

I've seen this a hundred times on the "coming to Boston" threads so I'll try to be specific with my query - I'm flying in to Portland OR mid afternoon on Monday, 8/27 and immediately driving north with my wine drinking wife...I'm trying to optimize my Portland beer stops to near the airport / and "sorta on the way".

I'm thinking of dropping by Great Notion's NE Alberta taproom to see if I can grab leftover cans from the weekend, and then head to a bottle shop to see if I might be lucky enough to find any deGarde bottles. Few questions - 1) Is this realistic on the Great Notion front 2) What bottle shop should I hit - even if it's unrealistic to find any deGarde? 3) Assuming not my typical time in a beer store...can we get in / out of this area relatively quickly and get back on the road (it doesn't look too bad on mapquest, etc. and I've been to Portland before but just double checking)?

I realize there's a lot more beer in Oregon than just GN and DG but I'll have a little more time in Spokane, WA prior to hitting Glacier NP to do some shopping so I just wanted to concentrate on those two which I don't see too much on the East Coast.

    Thanks a bunch, and cheers!

If you drop by on Monday afternoon, then I think there's an excellent chance of finding GN cans at the Alberta Street brewpub (I can't recall if there's ever been a time when they sold out of everything on Saturday). It probably wouldn't hurt to call over to be on the safe side, but I'd be very surprised if they were out of cans on a Monday.

The best bottle shop to get dG stuff is Arch Bridge, but they're located in Oregon City, and unless your wife is really, really directionally challenged, you're going to have a hard time convincing her it's "on the way." That being said, they are right off of I-205, so if your wife doesn't mind a little 20-25 minute jaunt in the exact opposite direction of Washington from PDX, you might want to consider it. :sunglasses:

Otherwise, Tin Bucket seems to usually have some dG bottles available, though they can be hit or miss at times. Unfortunately, outside of Arch Bridge, no place seems to be very well supplied with dG stuff of late. Just my two cents, but if it were me, I would call places like Tin Bucket, Beermongers and Belmont station when your flight arrives, to see what their current dG inventory looks like (before driving any place).

Tin Bucket is pretty close to the Interstate. Beermongers and Belmont Station... not so much. You'll do a fair amount of driving on surface streets from the interstate to get to either store (but that still only means another 10 minutes each way). My definition of what's a fair amount of driving and yours is probably pretty different. Anyway, they have a pretty good bottle selection overall at Tin Bucket, but it doesn't compare to what you'll find at Belmont Stations and Beermongers (should you decide to go there instead).

    Good luck.

Update. Am at Tin Bucket, and it looks like no dG for to go purchases. Just have bottles of Broken Truck no. 4 for on site only consumption. $20.

Thanks so much! Just what I was looking for! I really appreciate the time and detail you put into it - I will definitely be making a few calls prior to coming out, and will no doubt try to find the right time to broach the 20 minutes in the opposite direction discussion...oh and boy my mouth is salivating at the thought of lingering over a BT 4, which I know already I can't do...oh well! Thanks again and cheers!

As far as places to drink besides GN, the original Breakside on Dekum is more-or-less on your way to GN from the airport. For bottles, the Alberta location of Imperial Bottle Shop is a quick two block walk west of GN. I doubt they'll have dG, but they have a great selection otherwise.

Besides that, @John_M is right on. I'd recommend Tin Bucket over Imperial, but if you can't make TB happen, you'll be in good hands at Imperial. Arch Bridge is awesome, but it'd be way too much of a hassle for you, particularly since Portland traffic seems to suck pretty much all the time now.

Thanks, appreciate that - I'm going to do some more research on what's available dG or no dG - I'm sure there's lots of beers that I'm not even aware of right now that I'll probably consider "must gets", that are probably readily available at either place that I'd never see on the East Coast...thanks again and cheers!

For Great Notion, when my sister was there a few weeks back the cans leftover from Saturday were not there Monday at opening

They never announced that they were at the Alberta location on social media do I don’t know when they got there but they sold out that night..shortly after 6

Though, it was later revealed that they saved some cans of Orange Creamsicle for later in the week or the following week
