What Beer Are You Drinking Now? #2113

Finished a workout and sweat out all the beer from last night. Was thirtsy and needed something I could guzzle. Had one of these left so.........

 

This beer poured with almost no head and, by the time I got to the picture, this is what it looked liked. It's actually a fine tasting hefeweizen but the lack of head retention is still troubling me. Cheers!

 

Pieces of 8 from Foley Brothers Brewing. Most underrated hoppy beer out there. Tastes like straight butter!

International beer day, so how about my first Costa Rican beer. This is pretty good stuff. Great head retention/lacing for the style. Aromas and flavors of cracker, corn, white bread dough, and lightly toasted biscuit malts; with some herbal, grassy, light peppery hops. A touch of fruity/skunky aromas, but not overwhelming. Light herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation, light-medium body, and moderately crisp/clean finishing. Bready/grainy malts and some sticky hops in the mouthfeel. A bit thin, but not watery feeling. Light-moderate increasing bitter dryness. Very flavorful/refreshing, 4.5%. Very clean lagering, minimal fruity/yeasty notes. Clean pale malt/grains and solid earthy hop presence for the style. Not overdone on corn adjuncts. Pretty fresh bottling. Enjoyable, well made AAL. 3.53


More milkshake DIPAs. This was excellent. Great head retention/thick lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, watermelon, blueberry, citrus peel/rind, light peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate wheat, biscuit dough malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; creamy/bready/grainy oats/lactose, some sticky hops, and light resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Lightly increasing warmth of 8%. Citra, Amarillo, El Dorado, and Mosaic. Very juicy, dank, and earthy balanced hop complexity; nice lactose/oat/malt backbone, with minimal residual sweetness from lingering dryness. Not as soft as I expected, but the hop profile was on point. 4

First time having this one from Bells! Excellent summer brew!

 

Folks last night told me how great this beer is so I was going to save it for tomorrow night and share with my brother-in-law who will be visiting from out of town. But, I could not control myself. I just had to open it. Folks were right, this is an exceptional beer. Thanks @jrc1093 for sending it. Never heard of the brewery but so far both of the brews I had from them were outstanding.

 

I'm thinking about stopping by Magnify tomorrow afternoon when I'm in the area. Do you know if they usually have cans left on Saturdays? Or if they do growlers or whatnot?

 

This is an update to Bare Hands’ flagship IPA, and it is outstanding, IMHO. Dank, juicy hop bomb. Love it.
