Sometimes my posts are too wordy. I'll try again.

Spoiler alert. New Glarus R&D Kriek is a sour. New Glarus Belgian Red is a fruit beer.

Uh Oh. Just noticed that NG listed both Raspberry Tart and WI Belgian Red as Lambic-Fruit in the GTOM program, whereas Strawberry/Rhubarb, for instance, is just listed Fruit beer. AFAIK breweries provide their own beers/styles/descriptors for the program. :stuck_out_tongue:

Interesting that they don't really market their R&D releases all that much. I think they've given up on their own website. It's kind of useless when it comes to information about upcoming events and releases. The last article they posted on there was from over two years ago. There isn't even a whisper about their R&D releases anywhere on the site.

Since I'm not on Facebook or Instagram, this thread is the only way for me know what's going on at New Glarsus. Twitter is the only social media I use and NG doesn't have a twitter account.

Does anyone happen to know what their exclusive beer for Beer Depot is this year? I know usually it's a lager, I couldn't find any info on their website. I think last year's was Hometown Blonde?

I believe they don't invest a ton of money into the R&Ds, and most of them are fine for sitting a bit, so there's no rush to get them out the door either economically or shelf-life-related. I think they are perfectly happy having the R&Ds available on a rotating basis as a bonus for visiting the brewery.

This is based on not a lot, but I think it is in line with NG's usual very nonchalant attitude.
It was Mistral French Pilsner, but I believe it has sold out unless they restocked.

I don't think that they really have to. The beers they make will sell out...eventually. They're in a great position of not needing those sales at all, nor do they need those releases to drive visitors to the brewery. Plenty of people are already going and spending their cash there.

I too don't have an Instagram account. But you can do a google/bing search for New Glarus' Instagram account--you don't need to have an account to see their posts.

Damn! Thanks for the heads up. Guess that means more Staghorn this year instead.

I seem to remember one time I drove up there the R&D bottles weren’t available for sale Sunday even though they didn’t sell out. Any chance this will be the case this Sunday?

No one can answer that except for the brewery. You'd have to call them. I would wager anything they don't sell will be available at some point in the future, but I cannot say whether or not that future point is Sunday.

Saw that their Instagram post mentioned sales the 10 and 11, but not 12 (Sunday). Commented and did not get a response back.

Doesn't surprise me. They've never been super social-media friendly as a company. Like I said, calling is your best bet. Otherwise ask when/if you're there Friday or Saturday.

I've had the same experience. However, that was before they started stocking the depot with the extras. Now that they put the extras there for continuous sale, I would imagine it will be available on Sunday.

Anybody see any Strawberry Rhubarb in Milwaukee or Brookfield?

Not 100% sure, but I feel like recent R&Ds have been available the Friday/Saturday they list, but not the immediate following Sunday. Then, future weeks/weekends those R&Ds are there again.

They commented back and said: I'd say yes. We're open Sunday 12-5 and have will also have other beers available.

Who knows? Guess it all depends on if it sells out and if they're up for dealing with more people buying bottles on Sunday.

I'm not there, but NG posted some pics on FB and the line didn't look very long. I'm assuming people have realized that you can just roll up and grab bottles all day, especially since the limit has been raised to 4pp.
