Relatively close, Yorktown Heights, but you might need to come down to westchester a little bit for a higher volume, at least it's not as deep as the city is from you.

    What's wrong with Half Time?

    For 1, it's QUITE pricey.

Agreed. I don't make any special trips there but do go in when I'm in the area. The big question is: are you spending more for gas than you save by making a road trip?

I live 10 minutes from DeCicco's (which is also a little pricey, but not as bad a Halftime), so i'm good. It also has a better selection of harder to find beers IMO.

I find that each gets some that the other does not sometimes.

Not to get entirely off topic from this thread but I've always felt the same about Halftime's prices. I see westchester folks quoting BCBS or Founders stuff at a lower price and I always questioned Halftime's prices. But as also noted the drive south probably outweighs the savings. Halftime is the only show in town up here basically so they charge what they want I suppose. In any case I'm just happy to have a place like that nearby.

As an outsider looking in, I always felt that Half Time is very pricey on their beers, especially the harder to find ones. While DeCiccos also bumps up their prices too, Sandman is right that it is not as drastic and they have a better selection.

I'm about the same distance from DeCicco's and I prefer it as well - especially the pressure filled growlers [which by the way are $1 - $2 more than other places but worth it for the pressure fill]. At DeCicco's, it's also nice to have a name and a face to talk to about new arrivals, etc., which I guess I haven't been to Halftime enough to establish even though while at Halftime I have had someone come up to me to ask if I needed assistance.

Just an put of the blue post but I stopped by Hyde Park Beverage today on rt.9 (not feeling the drive to Halftime) and I was impressed---they had Founders BB and Harvest...plus a Utopia behind the counter...not a lot but this isn't the place that usually has anything semi-hard to get. I noted to who I think was the owner that I was impressed and he said "we are trying". I assume that means stepping up to competition. I have no fear talking the place up a bit if it drums up more quality beers on the shelves. They booted a lot of the garbage foreign sixers that were collecting dust and brought in more decent craft stuff...firestone, left hand, troegs...that they never had before. Not Halftime-ish size wise by any means (and you can't break 6 packs) but prices are usually better (in some cases by quite a bit) and nothing gets put behind the counter. Just a heads up to the locals...I'm all for shopping local and helping the small(er) guy and minus the inability to sample by the bottle they opened my eyes a bit. I work nearby so it's a nice surprise for me when I'm not feeling driving to Halftime. Again its a smallish place but I can get my Flower Power, Hop Devil and Founders stuff here I'm all for giving them business.
