No dice again this week. I checked RW earlier around 2:30 because they typically get Carton stuff on Tuesdays. Unfortunately I think we're fucked as far as SS Hief goes unless we get a surprise drop. Also the beer manager said they haven't seen Boat at Roger Wilco for months now. Damn! Now I wonder if I buy lots of Head High it'll get Carton's attention:wink: :stuck_out_tongue:

Thank you for your service, you saved me a trip to Wilco I planned to take tonight after work. I have noticed no Boat for a long time as well. Have gone in there at least 4-5 times in the last 6 weeks or so looking for it and have not seen. Was hoping we'd see Hief and 07750 tonight. Checked Canals Lawrenceville on my lunch and they didn't have any new Carton either.

I might be making this up but Boat usually gets scarce as summer drags on. It was more plentiful this year than in years past, but I imagine that supplying so many new places with the increased volume they might have run low.

No problem. I live like 10 minutes from the place so I'll check in if I get any updates. Also my secret spot Traino's in Marlton usually gets Carton and they didn't have a drop today either. Bummah.

I noticed this too. There used to be cases of Boat stacked waist-high at Roger Wilco all winter long, now it'll barely last the day.

Looks like Gary’s in Hillsborough got SS Hief today. Maybe Wilco will get it too.

@jonphisher I'm not too sure about Roger Wilco. I was able to get some at Traino's in Marlton. They only got a case and there were 2 or 3 packs left. I also heard that Joe Canal's in Marlton got a case as well but they're selling singles only. No Boat ant any of the above stores though, word on the street is Augie drank it all so they're running a bit low

Do you know if Trainos got it today? Man that went quick. Did they get any 07750 or just SS Hief?

Every day I hit my usual spots looking for a Carton drop and everyday I walk away empty handed. Like Charlie Brown going to his mailbox looking for Christmas cards and walking away hunched over in sorrow.

Yeah either today or maybe yesterday. I picked up 2 packs. I would've grabbed more but I'm not trying to be that greedy. There were at least 4 left. Speaking of greed, the only issue I have with Roger Wilco is that there are never any case limits for their stuff. I've seen dudes grabbing 2+ cases of Boat before....can't same I blame them @ $10-11 a 4 pack but it's times like these that make it annoying for those of us who don't want to drop $130+ dollars on a beer run or feel the need to "BUY ALL OF THE BEER!"

Nope on 07750 and you more then likely won't see it down here. Plenty of 0dub though. The dubviants are exclusive to the taproom and the corresponding ZIP code (Monmouth Beach for this one) as far as I know, which is why we saw the Philly dubviant down here in South Jersey not too long ago. (that beer was fuckin' delicious btw)

I think we all need to just make the trip north. Get some brewers board beers too.

it's a valid theory but i am not drinking any more than the bakers dozen or so a week i have always drank and we are making a lot more.
i think at this point we hit each of the stores we deal with in NJ about 1ce every 2 weeks. sometimes a place is hit the day before canning so its another 2 weeks, sometimes people forget to put their order in so that extends, sometimes it's other things.
it's a process and we try to get better at it each day, but remember we are pretty small and doing this all on our own.
our 7 year commitment (next week) to make our beers as easy to all of NJ as possible often means we are out of the staples like boat and dub at home in our own TR. i am sure i don't need to explain how this is a terrible business plan that we continue to stick to hoping our beer isn't hectic for any regular NJ beer drinker.
so far i am proud of what we are getting done and thank you guys for still caring about boat (almost) as much as i do  it really means a lot to us

Thanks for the reply man, we really appreciate all that you do. No need to explain (to me at least) why Boat can be tough to find. Boat's popularity is extremely well deserved so I understand completely. You guys are doing an amazing job as it is, I mean damn, I got 1 day old 0dub a couple weeks back! I'm just happy we see any of your stuff down here at all. I'd make the trip up but my car is a piece of shit.

There is something about these last few batches of Boat that have just hit the spot so nicely. I'm not saying they taste different, they just really scratch that itch for me. Probably the weather ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Anyway, thanks to all you guys at Carton. Amazing job as always. SS Hief is hiding in the break room fridge at work, can't wait to dig in!

Walked into Wilco tonight and walked out with a bunch of rocks

Actually they reorganized the cooler. Lot of new beers but no Carton. Had a few 4s left of the Interboro/Magnify collab and a bunch of Singlecut if anyone’s interested. Lowest amount of Carton I’ve ever seen there. Wonder if they were the place that “forgot to place their order” :grimacing:

I can go to my local bottle King and 9 out of 10 times I can get fresh Boat and or 077XX. You're doing a great job in my eyes.

Anyone have insight into economics of using iron heart vs buying own canning line? I'm genuinely curious. I was at Asbury Park brewery recently and noticed they had their own canning line as well as a ridiculous amount of capacity and a ridiculous amount of empty kegs, well in excess of what I could possibly imagine the demand being for their very mediocre beer. After seeing that I am curious why the carton expansion did not include a canning line.

@gardenstatepkwy Just got back from Roger Wilco. 4 cases of Boat canned yesterday:open_mouth:and 5 cases of Beach (didn’t check can date). I’m so damn stoked right now, Carton is the greatest ever.

Yeah man, I used to make the 1.5 your trip north all the time (once a month or so) until my car decided to get all wonky. It’s gonna die any day now. Getting a new one next week so I’ll probably make a trip north as soon as that happens lol

I’m almost positive they do have their own canning line, especially with their new facility and everything (though I haven’t taken the tour yet). I’m pretty sure they still use Iron Heart for backup and times like these when they need an extra canning line. I really don’t know for sure honestly but I’m sure @augiecarton or someone else can answer with more certainty. Regardless, Iron Heart does a fantastic job

Hard for me to believe that anyone in NJ can possibly drive 1.5 hours NORTH to get to Carton!
