winter of 17. i only know that because i have one. but from what i understand that used to be an annual BA release that would follow the non-BA Behemoth release.

I don’t pretent to know whether that is accurate or not. But with zd and every beer they make pretty much available everywhere in NWI, why would people want to go to the brewpub?

(Nothing to do with barrel aging) but, What changed it all, to me, as far as production was the change of Indiana law from 30,000 barrels a year to 90,000 barrels a year to be classified a microbrewery. Before that law changed, atleast where I'm at, places had ONE bottle limits on ZD or you had to be on a reserve list for 2! Gumballhead was 1 six pack limit and same for reserve list at places. Since that law changed, it's made it so so much easier to get FFF without going to the brewery.

This was weekly. And a big note to "weekly" is some/most places wouldn't end up getting allotment weekly. And could sometimes be once every 3 weeks.

I guess that is more recent than I even thought. I thought it was 16. But still, I think you are right on all their barrels being used for DLD.

It has reached the point where zd is a my grocery store. It won’t be long til its not perceived as rare, which has a strong correlation to it not tasting as good to certain members of the beer community.

FFF may need to put some new batteries in their world class hype machine and churn out something new and buzzworthy to parallel with their new facility.

i don’t think they care at all about hype. i could be wrong but they made handjee the highest variant this year at DLD. floyd’s is close to 3 hours drive for me and i used to strike out on ZD all the time. would drive up on a saturday and it would be gone. you’d have to be able to go on a tuesday to get it. now it’s there every time.

Hate to say it, but it seems like this is when the quality started to go down hill

Thinking on it now, maybe this is when they switched to using a different type of hops (rumored they switched from either whole cones to pellets or oil. It's one way or another. I don't remember the details of the rumor, but it makes sense with timing from when it started.)

There are claims out there that Zombie Dust doesn't even contain Citra hops anymore. Based on how that beer has changed over the years, I'm inclined to believe it. Zombie Dust is my most consumed beer over the last 5-10 years, and there's no doubt that the recipe or ingredients have changed. About 2 years ago is when a massive shift occurred, in my opinion.

Which would exactly add up with the increase in production law.

    What occupies FFF time:
    Distillery opening in the fall
    Industrial Park renovation
    WarPigs

When the hell do they have time for innovating beer in Munster?

ive always been more of an Alpha King guy myself. i find it to be a very unique hoppy beer. but i love all floyd’s beers and hopefully always will as they were my first craft brewery that i really dug into and kind of got me into craft beer in the first place. their hoppy beers are a great welcome when i tire of the millions of hazy IPAs that flood the market these days, which i often do.

Allegedly, Citra hops just recently passed up Cascade as the most widely-grown hop in the US. I don’t see why they would omit it from the recipe all together, seeing as Citra is even more accessible now than ever.

This devolved more quickly than I thought it would. Just wanted to give people a heads up about the pop-up in Chicago.
