yeah its been like this for a while. When we go up there, we typically stop by pFriem first and my wife will hop out and get our name on the list. then we head into "town" and do some shopping, toy store, and usually get some pizza at Dbl Mtn. depending on the wait time. All thats to say, have some activities planned during your inevitable wait for pFriem. luckily its gorgeous up there and there is plenty to do

We stop at pFriem every year on the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend on the drive down to Bend. The plan is always to get there 15 minutes before opening, otherwise the wait gets insane.

I had only been there a couple of times before (prior to our June visit), and had never had a problem. Of course it was just me, and all I wanted was to grab a beer or two, and I was always able to find an empty spot at the bar. However, I think this was probably the first time I ever visited during the summer, and I was completely blown away by the size of the crowd (especially as we were there during "off" hours).

When I read the Portland Mercury article, everything started to make a lot more sense. Obviously, you and @derftron are the smart one's and have the game plan figured out, but this was all a complete surprise to me. One thing for sure, my days of just dropping by the taproom expecting to find a table or seat without any problem are probably over. At least in the summer time.

Then we drove to Solera with the most beautiful view at any taproom I've ever been to and we're the only people there. [shrug]

Any bottle shops let you break apart packs and buy single cans/bottles? I need to know. For science.

    John's Market in Multnomah Village.

I think ABV in Hillsboro does as well for the majority of them.

Thanks, I'm heading down on Monday and couldn't remember if Belmont or Beermongers did or not.

Yeah, it's kind of a trek out this way.

Not sure the last time you were at Belmont, but they have a section where there are singles of stuff, but it's limited from what I saw.

The few times I've been into Beermongers is from having a few at APEX then heading over so my memory might be hazy, but I don't remember being able to break up packs to get singles.

Just remembered Uptown Market in Beaverton has a ton of singles, but I know that's still farther west than you may want to go.

Yeah, I'm going to be in Portland proper.

Bottleworks allowing you to break anything apart and Chucks' huge singles selection has spoiled me, I guess.

beermongers lets you break apart. most of their stuff is sold as singles anyways

    johns definitely

Thriftway near johns also does. they have a good selection and they literally just give it to you at cost.

so a can of Ft George City of Dreams is like a $1.60

Tin Bucket as well. They have a huge selection of singles, and I'm fairly certain they let you break up 4 packs and 6 packs to purchase a single, assuming there aren't any singles available.

With the exception of a few retro domestic beers, you can by singles of basically everything at the station.

Looks like I have lots of options on Monday. Will be hitting Wayfinder, Modern Times and Great Notion along with a couple shops before turning around and coming home in time for the M's game. Just looking for some OR cans and I'd rather not spend a whole lot and limit myself to singles.

It was the Ex Novo can that put you over the top, wasn’t it?

    Maybe?

I’m also home by myself for a couple days and figured “what the hell, why not.”

    Speaking of Ex Novo:

Not gonna lie: I am unreasonably interested in the new canned beer they released yesterday.

Yes, Ex Novo makes fine beers, but I want the beer for the can design.

It's a pale ale called Really Tied The Room Together, and the can looks like The Dude's rug.

"Hi, my name's vurt and I'm a big 'Big Lebowski' fan."

Further riffing on the Ex Novo subject: on several occasions I have gone out of my way to bike past their upcoming location here in Beaverton. I pull up to the building and look through the windows and go, "Oooooooo..."

I'm gonna have to hit the road around 3 so probably won't get to stop in at Ex Novo, but sure hoping I can get a can of In a Can Down By the River.... love Matt Foley.

I've got a friend who is also huge Lebowski nerd, and I'm sure he'd love a can. I'd like a can for the contents. I'm sure I can find something to exchange.

Not sure if this will interest you, but when I stopped by Tin Bucket last Sunday, they still had bottles of Rusty Nail available. $20.50 a pop with no purchase limits.
