It's just the opposite in my area. We get 6-packs and I've never seen 12-packs before.

That's a lot. I think I'll just open it, sip it, and hope for the best

If it's their Festbier I wouldn't worry about it. Their other beers, I'd check that date. You might find a lot of bottles with a "7" on the end of that number.

Sure, as long as I can trade some of the bars around here for that swanky Somerville bar with all of the O-Fests on tap.

Anything be try von trapps yet? Just cracked my first bottle and it is as smooth and tasty as I remember it.

I saw on facebook that Dark Horse is releasing an Octoberfest tomorrow. I don't recall seeing this style from them in the past, so maybe it's their first ever release. It's available at the brewery tomorrow and in stores soon.

I haven't seen shit for octoberfests in my area. We always get stuff a month after everyone else (unless it's a michigan brewer) Stores or distributors are still waiting to sell their 4 month old spring mix packs and summer shandies before they set out their quickly aging fall seasonals.

Edit: by we, I mean my particular distributors footprint/county, not all of michigan.

Their FB post says 'Looks What's back in the Compound'. A Dark Horse Oktoberfest has periodic ratings on here going back to 2002. Enjoy.

I had a 6 pack of Central Waters Oktoberfest this past week. I like it, smooth sweet syrupy and a little malty, I didn't notice much for hop notes. It has a slight brown sugar/maple flavor. This beer Sucked in 2017, but 2016 was great. It's not for everyone, almost tastes like a corn bock.

I am making a beer run into WI Tomorrow looking for Okfest beers, Might go to the Lazy Monk since they have a few other breweries there for little contest.

OH yeah! This is my gig right here. Sierra Nevada's collaboration with Riegle has been my favorite so far but this one is just as good AND a little bit different. See you all on Sunday.

I also found HB to be more maibock like this year, but I doubt they change their recipe and chalk it up to the more humid weather we're having that makes it warm faster and taste fuller. I expect my palate to change with this beer once the humidity and heat drop and the nights get more fall like

Love Andechs. Visiting their monastery is a prominent memory for me. I pick up the Vollbier Hell every time I see it (it's always at the Paramus Whole Foods). I will be looking for that Festbier.

Know anywhere I can find the Paulaner Oktoberfest Wiesn and/or Hofbrau? Haven't seen either of those? What else are you enjoying that's available in NJ/NYC?

I really enjoy it. I've been alternating between SN and Von Trapp for the past week.

I haven't seen either yet , myself. But by the first week in September I usually do my big 'O'fest' shopping trip at Total Wine in River Edge NJ. They're always very well stocked.

Thank you sir. Please let me know if you find anything of note and I will do the same.

Sure would love to find some Andechs on tap. That is something I’ve never seen in the States.

Bottled on 7-27-18. Really enjoying it this year, flavors are so good, malty with a little biscuit in there, slight hops.... I have to say, @SierraTerence you guys hit this year's batch out of the park.....
    Cheers

I picked up the Paulaner Wiesn at Liquor Outlet in Boonton a few days ago. Also saw the Hofbräu at Wegmans in Hanover but didn't buy it yet. I'll get to it eventually.

The only place I have seen Andechs on tap is Zum Schneider in NYC. I don't know how frequently they update their website but it says they have the Vollbier and Doppelbock on tap right now. I've had the Doppelbock there before. Amazing stuff.
