HF has a tradition of being widely inaccurate with their estimates on how long special beers will last. Sometimes I feel that they are almost ignorant to the fact that people are willing to drive hours in droves to get their chance to taste a special beer and they end up running out or changing allotments a lot sooner than intended.

Me personally, I would never drive several hours each way to go somewhere for only one specific beer unless it was 100% guaranteed that I would get one. Allotment's are never guaranteed at HF, so you should have assumed there would be some risk of walking away empty handed.

Also, the fact that Hill had several other great beers both on tap and to take away while you were there would surely be enough consolation prize for most patrons, myself included. I go up to Hill about 2x a year, (my commute is 4hrs each way) and never plan my trips around releases, but am always more than satisfied with what I walk away with.

    This thread delivered, 10/10!

(Either this was a marginally decent troll, or OP’s expectations are wildly out of touch with reality. Expecting HF to maintain supply of a historically very limited beer — one sure to draw much interest from locals — and moreover a beer not even brewed by or at HF is, how shall we say, ludacris.gif)

Westly was pouring all day at the Trillium Field Trip, they even shirked the half pours for full pours.

Did you read the thread title? It’s pretty cut and dry

Bait and switch is presently my #1 NE forum thread of the year - in the new up-and-coming star category. With only 6 weeks to go —- it’s gonna be tough to top. Thoughts?

I think you’re doing it a disservice confining it to the NE forum. This thread should be gunning for the grand prize

Should be quite busy this coming weekend, even though nothing crazy being released. Nevertheless, consolation pours will be available if something runs out.

Wow - I regret not reading that thread until just now. I kept seeing it pop up in the forum and just decided it was another annoying thread about which IPAs are being released when and when you need to be in line to acquire full allocation. If someone else sees this, go check it out, it's worth a few minutes to follow a year's worth of saltiness.

    I still prefer this thread.

If you are ever feeling self-entitled or find yourself acting like a whiny little bitch... come read Bait and Switch. It will reassure you that there are way bigger d-bags out there in the world. This Thursday, I will be thankful that I am not the author of the Bait and Switch thread.

At Thanksgiving dinner, particularly with guests, don't talk politics or religion. Or, more importantly, refrain from disparaging Hill Farmstead in any way.

I was sitting in a meeting at work today lamenting a bunch of things that are going wrong w/ the project I’m managing. At one point I found myself talking to my team in a tone that was, in a word, petty. You might even say whiny. Then I thought of your post in my still #1 NE Thread of the year...at lunch I pulled this bitch up and read it all over. I won’t go as far as calling OP a d-bag - cause I think he’s been a good sport and pretty contrite about this thread — but reading it made me laugh and got me out of my whiny/bitch ass funk. Took no prisoners the rest of the day.

OP — since you posted again here I have to ask — as @ewendel postulated above - your thread was either a marginally decent troll or your expectations are wildly out of touch with reality. Which is it?

If the response is that it was a troll then that’s a lie. I just reread the OP. That bad boy is straight from the heart of a guy who thought his four year saga to try Westly was over, but whose day was instead ultimately “loused up” (loved that touch) by a dishonest brewery.

I had it for the first time the day of the infamous bait and switch, and I agree it was glorious.
