My understanding is they stopped using other peoples commercial beer and have their own recipe base stouts/goses contract brewed.

But yeah obviously the jooses are not comparable in technique to "real" fruited, blended sours. The stouts are very sweet, but pastry style non-subtle sweet stouts are one of the hottest things around now and they found an easy way to have a bunch on draft. Imo they are pretty clear when asked about how they do things.

I understand why you would say that about a sour, but their sours aren't very sour at all.

I thought Brandon was starting Safety Team Brewing? What happened with that?

I think since they have decided to build instead of take over an existing space this is probably just a temporary gig to keep busy while going through the process. The last article I read a couple months ago mentioned breaking ground in 3rd Quarter and taking 7 months to complete.

    https://richmondbizsense.com/2018/06/15/brewery-business-accelerator-planned-brookland-park-blvd/

    - "If the neighborhood supports it and permits are approved, Weiner said the brewery could break ground in four to six months and then would take another five months or so to construct."

    - "They aim to break ground in the third quarter of this year, with buildout expected to last seven months."

Black Ninja Design / The Answer has opened up pre-orders of their very first shirt. See below. Shipping is very cheap too. I live an hour away and standard 2-day shipping was only $1.82. That being said, with the shirt being $30 I'm guessing some of the cost of shipping is hidden in there. https://www.blackninjadesign.com/products/sf-ken-hopduken

The real question is do you think the glasses ever hit the online store? I see he has a section for "Glassware" but it's blank.

Why put the glassware online when people will stand in line for them & they sell out fairly quickly.

Brand expansion. I for one would love to have one of his glasses but I'm not going to the secondary market to buy one. He could make much more money if he kept in person sales limited but sold more online.

Maybe that would also make it more likely for one of those C&D's that a lot of people claim are coming any minute?

First thing I thought about when I saw Black Ninja had set up a website and tossed that first shirt in the store. Start mass producing those 8bit designs and offering them up for sale on the Interweb and that will surely get more notice. That being said, An is definitely not into those glass designs for the money. Just look at how generous he is with giving away glasses, Crowlers, etc. That's what makes him one of the best in the industry. He enjoys coming up with ideas and we all want to gobble them up.

No one will ever dispute this. I have only 2 Answer 8 bit glasses but both were given to me. The generosity is amazing.

Another thing, as I understand the law and whichever Supreme Court ruling it was, is the liability is not on An but rather the people who print/produce the product. Personal example: I made custom onesies for my kids when they were babies with various designs like band artwork and some included 8 bit things like a mushroom from Super Mario Brothers etc. Some places refused to print them and rejected my orders as they recognized them as an image owned by Nintendo. Others had no problem printing them. Obviously I'm not worried about Nintendo ever seeing these because I don't post them online. But even if they did, even if I made more and turned around and sold them, I don't believe the liability would be on me but rather the people who printed them. I feel like whoever is printing these glasses etc. feels like it is all fair use and defensible enough to not be worried.

More back on point - I am far from a glass ***** and typically I just want a different style of glass if I don't have one rather than whatever is printed on it. That said, I think this batch of glasses is superb. I have a Glass Joe and want the matching Tyson. The Ken/Ryu are so cool, and of the NES games my son and I play DD is his favorite. He'd think one of those is cool even if it's meant for beer.

Hopefully with the Ken and Ryu set having the most produced, I will be able to trade for a set. Those glasses are awesome.

Tyson is the one I got most excited about and glad to see they have 1,800 of those and will release just after their Noon opening on Thursday. That's the only one I want and I feel confident it should last all day and likely into Friday so long as the traders don't snag them all up since it's 6pp.

if anyone was/is planning to get into today's festivities it appears (according to the Q&A fb group) there's a nice line that has already started to form in the pouring RVA rain. Those are some dedicated people trying to get their scratchers on. Still 2 hours before open....

FYI- for anyone going Thursday or Sunday. I have never in my life seen a line move as slowly as the Answer yesterday.
Yesterday they did not separate the glasses sale from crowlers so all these people visiting are loading up. I stopped by for glasses, but after talking to my friend for 10 mins and seeing the line essentially not move, I left.
