Pilsner glasses can come in a variety of shapes. Below are some examples with Budweiser branding:

Yup, back in the day the Vikings would not have had this issue since the beer then would not have been carbonated to begin with.

    Cheers!

Since you bring up the Irish pub glass (aka "tulip"), why is this glass called a "gravity" glass?

I thought the other glass was English in origin (the "Irish pub glass" you referenced)?

Also, in your picture here I noticed the head on the beer looks like it's a dark brown, and not the traditional creamy white head. I wonder if they poured the Extra Stout into it, or another version of Guinness not served via nitro?

That is from somewhere on the web.

Here is one I own (and it is 0.5L) (and the photography is not nearly as good!)

IDK about the origin - or the "proper" name, (which is one of the interesting things about traditional glassware...), but that so-called "tulip" is what I was referring to in my OP as an "Irish pint"... because I associate it with Irish dry stouts.

The bottom of it is textured and shaped so that it promotes the carbonation to happen with each tilt and keep the head forming on top - similar to that Sam Adams one

Yea, I personally have 4 different PU glasses and I know of at least 4 or 5 other variations. The one that @AlcahueteJ posted actually seems to be a rarer variation - the most common one I've seen is this one:

I've got a bunch of these laying around.

That mug is likely more "traditional". Similar to the mug I posted in post #53 above, below is a shot of a mug from Notch Brewing. They're known for their traditional Czech styles (and German, English, and modern US among others).

The beer below in the mug is of their "The Standard", a Czech Pils sitting at 4.4% ABV (12°P).
    Heavenly by the way.

As an also-wine drinker, I'm actually a lot less picky about my beer glasses. Straight up, tulip, nonic... ok. I haven't perceived, and I have definitely tested, any real sensory difference (aroma, taste) based on the glass when I vary it. Could just be my nose/palate is more picky with wine given its characteristics, but give me beer in most anything and I'm happy. Unless it's a coffee mug, cuz then I can't admire anything about it except if I'm staring down into the head. Interesting to see all the varieties and preferences people have.
I also think, personally, that drinking beer in a skinny Pilsner glass makes me look fat.

If you enjoyed yourself at Pilsner Urquell, you HAVE to go to Notch. They have some stellar stuff that doesn't get packaged.

I have a PU shaker pint -- yeah, a shaker pint -- if you want it.
Something connected with the Gravity Bar at Guinness? FWIW, I have one of the glasses you picture -- with the fancy sculpting -- it's not a true Imperial Pint. Elegant looking, but not an Imperial Pint. All of my other Guinness glasses are Impys.

I think EVERYTHING is branded on a shaker pint if you look hard enough.

The only Imperial tulip pint I use is my Sam Smith one. It has a massive nucleation point that is killer for creating/retaining a nice head.
