It's pretty much guaranteed bottles will carry over until Sunday. If they had not used the word "exclusively" then it would be a non-issue. Just state attendees will get the first chance to purchase bottles Sat. at 1pp and any leftovers will be available to the public on Sunday. Simple. Either way, you would not catch me paying $35 for 500ml whether I could taste it ahead of time or just hope it's worthy of the price. Veil always trying to create hype someway or another.

Session 1 attendees are really the ones who get screwed on this because they cannot pick up bottles before their session begins and then have to find some way to get to the brewery afterwards and drinking. Maybe take an afternoon power nap then roll over in the evening??

Not trying to justify the price but 100% of the proceeds are going to charity.

That seems to be the rebuttal when the price is brought up. Proceeds can mean pretty much mean any figure they want to assign to it. They could give all sales (highly doubtful) of the bottle to charity, net sales (profit after expenses covered) or any other figure (i.e. $5 from every bottle). The way the say 100% of the proceeds makes me want to think it is all profits after expenses go to charity but since they already know how much the beer cost to brew and bottle wouldn't it be much simpler to say exactly how much from each bottle sold goes to charity? Probably that would not sound as dramatic if we knew how much they were giving. Not saying Veil doesn't give back to the community because they most definitely do but saying proceeds go to charity could be similar to how they define the bottle also being available exclusively to attendees.

Last year's FSF created a donation of $11k to childsavers which an article I read was almost double what they did in 2016 so either way I expect them to be making another sizable donation this year.

I like how in the comments they won’t say that the mags and 3L bottles are being raffled, but rather “buy a ticket to find out:wink:

I drank a Sauvage this weekend and I think it might be the best wild beer they’ve done so far, so I’m really excited for these bottles of Sauvage Rose.

It was mentioned in another post that they will be doing a raffle that contains a few treats from them and other breweries. I think it’s a safe bet a few of these end up in the raffle.

I forget where, but I saw an offer somewhere on FB of someone offering to pay for someone's ticket AND the cost of the bottle for up to 4 people asking only for the bottles of Starve in return. So that's basically $600 for $140 "worth" of beer that no one can taste without cracking a bottle. We're all beer fans here, and I'm still a pretty huge Veil fan, but I don't get this.

I think it’s the maple bourbon factor, people go nuts for maple barrels.

I can’t be the only one who’s over the maple barrel trend? Vanilla, however always has a place in my heart.

Unconditional - A new collaboration beer with Trillium Brewing Company

It is a 5.5% ABV Galaxy dry-hopped, 100% barley grist, turbid mashed American Wild Ale.
Half of the grist consisted of barley from Valley Malt in Massachusetts. We boiled for an extended period with aged hops then chilled the wort overnight in our coolship.
Next we filled red wine barrels, pitched Trillium’s house culture, and allowed them to age for 13 months.

Reminiscent of Lambic with a fruit leather and oaky complexity. Bottle Conditioned.

Limited edition Unconditional glasses $12+tax. 2 glasses per person. Available tomorrow, Friday the 24th!

$20+tax for the 750ml and $60+tax for the 1.5 litter mag. 6 bottle limit per person

^^disregard the above. Accidentally posted in here instead of the Triple Crossing thread. Have flagged/reported so hopefully it will be removed shortly.

Announced dual can release TODAY (Thursday Aug 30th).
    _______________________________________________
Sentiment is a lightly smoked, oak fermented Saison. This beer is the Saison version of our small batch of Mixed Feelings lager that came out last year - a very similar grist and hopping with a few recipe and process adjustments that transform it into a Saison. Crisp, rustic, and effervescent with smoke and oak for some depth as Autumn approaches. 5.6% ABV
    $12.00+tax/4Pack. NO LIMIT

Boss Lady is brewed for our one and only Boss Lady here at The Veil, Michelle. We love her so we used her favorite hops and fruit to create a brand new sour DIPA. Mosaic and Nelson mellow and balance the punchy tropical and citrus characters from the pineapple and blood orange purée. Fun, layered, and refreshing. 8.9% ABV
    $18.50/4Pack. NO LIMIT

Random question- I've unfortunately never been to The Veil but will be stopping in this weekend as we are visiting friends in the area. I was thinking on stopping in a little before close on FRI on our way down to buy cans and hopefully stop back Sat or Sunday to actually hang there with my friend.

Not knowing how long cans typically last is it worth popping in FRI or should i just hit it once over the weekend on Sat or Sunday with my buddy to hang and pickup cans? I'm particularly interested in white ferarri, buried buried alive alive, alone alone, and never never aloha aloha but have no idea how regularly those are released or tend to last. Thx for any helps or comments!

I’d proabably grab them Friday especially if you are after a specific brand, there will be plenty of cans left over Saturday or Sunday but there’s also a chance a brand sells out.

I’d also recommend checking out Triple Crossing, they release cans on Friday. https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/triple-crossing-brewing-co.482496/page-15

Thanks for the info, and my buddy has shot me crowlers of triple before, but I haven't been down to RVA in a couple of years. We usually have hit up Mekong in the past and the answer had just opened last time we were in town. Thx for the heads up!

Agree with @Vikings1201 on when to snag cans at Veil. Chances are the ones you want will still be around on Sat. but since they stopped announcing case counts a long time ago better safe than sorry. Plus, less to haul around Sat./Sun. If you end up opening something Fri night and it blows you away then you can re-load on Sat. / Sun.

If it's been a couple years since you visited then Triple Crossing's Fulton location may not have been open yet. Just keep in mind they have 2 now. Downtown/Foushee St. and Fulton/Hatcher St.. Downtown is 10-15 minutes drive closer if you are going to be at Veil/Mekong/The Answer and whatever cans released at Fulton remain at close on Friday they will split between both locations when doors open Sat.

if you are looking for additional stops then I would also recommend Final Gravity. They are putting out beers I would put right up there with the best in RVA. The former head brewer at The Answer has also been helping brew at FG the past few months while working on opening up his own brewery next year.

Why is the 1.5 liter three times the price for two times the beer? Does it taste better out of a mag?

My exact thoughts when I read their post about it. Guess they think people aren't good at conversions or it's all about the exclusivity.

I've started posts on this in the trade forums. Mags usually trade higher than the same amount of the same beer in smaller formats put together. I think it's silly, but apparently people want to be ballin' for weddings and such.

I don’t think this has anything to do with trade value, you are paying for the novelty and rarity.
