I think I finished that mug in less than ten minutes. And I was trying to drink slow too.

There was a local dive tavern (shag carpet on the wall, it was lovely) when I was in college in Cincinnati that had a “Home of the Fish Bowl” slogan. Basicslly oversized goblets that your entire hand would wrap around the stem. It held just short of 3 beers. We drank High Life for $2.50 (2001). Found a fuzzy picture online. Funny. I remember them looking blurry too.

An example of a Czech glass mug. Got this in Germany at a street festival. The deposit of €2 while drinking the beer was a damn cheap price to pay for this glass, so I kept it. It's 0.5L

Other traditional German glass, the Willibecher, here a 0.3L from the defunct Iserlohner Brauerei:

Another very traditional mug was the Bartmann Krug, pictured here:

Ha! I've got one, too, but only know it because recently I went through - as opposed to "organized, sorted and listed" - the multiple boxes of glasses I have (some marked "KEEP", others "SELL/TRADE" but my opinions changed on some of 'em). Surprised to find a P.U. shaker and thought "I must have bought this ironically..."

So, if I ever break it (earthquake knocks the beer case off the rack in the celllar?) AND want to replace it (Alzheimer's?) I'll let you know.

My Pilsner Urquell mug is very similar - w/"flutes" in the interior but marked "0,3l" about an inch (~25.4. mm ) below the lip.

As a lefty, I like the logo being opposite the handle, so "ambidextrous" - many handled US beer glasses seems build to right-handers (unless you're trying to impress others with your choice of brand).

My first impulse was "Damn cheap?" but that's my flea market - "50¢-$1 beer glass" financial history ruining me. Yeah, I'd have done the same for a coupla bucks.

I'm shocked at what brewers and retailers want for beer glasses these days... Which is why I'll never own a "Teku" - just as well, 'cause I'd never drink out one, either.

I'm pretty sure this glass was payoff swag from a retailer or working a home-brew competition. I honestly can't remember the last time I actually purchased a beer glass.

I did that a couple times myself in German... but I think the deposit was much cheaper. I know, ugly American. :flushed:

Speaking of Stiefel drinkware, here are what I own. The ceramic one is quite small, maybe holds 0.2L, whereas the glass one is 3L. The ceramic one was inherited from my Oma and the glass one was given to me by a friend while she was moving and couldn't be bothered to pack it.

    There's not a crack in it; it's a seam.

Thanks for posting this. I have these glasses that belonged to my father and for years I have wondered what the story was behind them.

Wow, so nice to offer. I'd happily flip you some beers in trade.
