Nah. But thanks for the heads up. Looking for beers I can’t get at home.

Any events happening around BFNA in PDX? Last year there was the Other Half tap takeover from what I remember.

Those $35 Finback six packs at Belmont were crazy stupid.

Ouch. The MoC here is having an event tomorrow with multiple Finback taps; I have now recalibrated my expectations.

Oh it's an official thing? I figured the $35 packs and $10 single cans were some gray market shenanigans.

Totally struck out on In a Can Down By the River. oh well.

I’ll find out later today how it got here, but I suspect it was legit through Day One or Alebriated, though at that pricing can we really rule out Shelton Brothers?

Should have you covered on the Matt Foley, too. MoC still has some.

Super specific request (mostly because it's hard to tell what venues have TVs)...I'm looking for a kid friendly location near Great Notion to watch Thursday night football. Recos for anywhere with a good list? Does alberta St Pub have TVs?

Concordia ale house seems like the obvious recommendation.

Thanks! Seems like a good fit.

Any other personal favourites in that immediate area?

Imperial Bottle Shop and Taproom has an outpost just a couple blocks up the street from Great Notion. I don't think they allow minors there, though I'm not positive about that (but have never seen any children there).

Also, as far as McMenamin outposts go, the Kennedy school location is one of the more interesting and enjoyable ones. It's just a few blocks up the street from Concordia Alehouse and is worth a visit (IMHO). McMenamin beers aren't the greatest on the planet, but they aren't terrible either (again, IMHO).

The Station is a great place to watch games but their beer selection kind of sucks for Portland. At 27th and Alberta.

edit: I think Old Town Brewing has a TV over on MLK. As odd as it may sound, finding bars with TVs is more difficult in Portland than it is in most cities.

    Recent Portland/NW Oregon Trip

I arrived in Portland on a Sunday afternoon. After a gorgeous stroll through the International Rose Test Garden, we headed to Loyal Legion in SE Portland. A nice space with a deep tap list, tasty food and a decent selection of cellared bottles. I had my first Pallet Jack. Great old-school flavors of citrus and pine, with firm hop bitterness and balanced malt complexity. If it were available in Seattle, it would definitely be in my regular rotation. We split a bottle of 2016 de Garde Petit Blanc, and enjoyed it’s tart, vibrant funkiness.

Our group then walked over to Modern Times. It was packed, but we managed to find some seats and sample a couple brews. IIRC, I had Devil’s Teeth-Pistachio and Coconut. Subtle pistachio, with nice toasted coconut flavor. We weren’t too far from Hair of the Dog, but my wife isn’t a beer-drinker, and a mans gotta know his limits.

Monday morning we went to Seaside. Seaside Brewing was a pleasant surprise, and wasn’t originally on my itinerary. Their Barleywine was American-style; well-made but not my favorite style. I was really impressed with their Full Rip Red. Such a flavorful malt backbone, and no doubt one of the better Red Ales I’ve had.

Monday afternoon, I stopped by Great Notion to pick up some cans of Guava Mochi, Juice Box and Mandela. I also got to sample Blueberry Muffin and Double Stack for the first time. And mixed my own little glass of Blueberry Pancakes, haha. Blueberry Muffin has the most incredible aroma of sugar-crusted, fresh-baked blueberry muffins.

Tuesday, we took US 30 to Astoria. Lunch was had at Fort George Brewery, which seemed to be the most popular place in town. I had a glass of their 10th Anniversary
Barleywine. Absolutely divine, and paired well with my oyster po boy. I picked up bottles of Matroyshka and Reclusa to go, neither of which I’ve had before. Excited to taste those when I get home!

Wednesday I stopped by Buoy Brewing. I sampled Beaver State, Benedict Cumberbatch, Loral, Biere de Garde, Good On Ya and Oatmeal Stout. All beers were well-made and flavorful, and I’ll continue to buy cans and bottles of their lagers that make it up to Seattle. It was really fun to watch through the glass floor as the sea lions lounged below the pier.

I really enjoyed my stay, and look forward to planning another trip to Portland.

    Cheers!

We used to get Pallet Jack in Seattle, not sure why we don't see it up here anymore.

Looks like Barley Brown’s is distributed in WA by Alpha Distributing. I rarely see any of their beers up here, but then again, I drink a lot more packaged beer than draft. Shrug.

Does this include the coast? I like the Oregon Coast breweries and especially de Gard in Tillamook. I also like the Pacific Northwest Brew Cup in Astoria at the end of September to get a good selection of some of the best Oregon coast breweries in one spot. This kind of gives a good quick description. https://www.vacationrentalsmanzanita.com/blog/pacific-northwest-brew-cup

Well, there is a "visiting Tillamook" thread , but it hasn't seen much action recently.

No. This thread only includes breweries, bars, and restaurants in the city of Portland proper. Adding other locations outside the Portland city limits would make this post far larger and more bloated than it already is.
