First thing I thought when I read that article was that it's a matter of when, not if, it will close. The concept just isn't intriguing enough to overcome the curse of that location, IMO.

Regardless of location, World of Beer failed in Columbus too. We had 3 locations, I think we only have the Easton one left. It's a little less surprising that Easton's is still there. WOB would best suit the mall crowd anyhow.

It must be a pretty poorly run company, or at least poorly operated by the franchisees who have the Columbus locations.

Sorry for the late response, there were three cases. I'd imagine you were able to get some.

Another similar type restaurant recently opened at Pinecrest called City Works. 90+ taps, I just don't understand how that's feasible in terms of making sure everything is still fresh. Not to mention the prices are absurd, $12 for a 13oz pour of GI Sofie, $11 for a pint of Weihenstaphaner.

Went to the city works in Minneapolis before a twins game. Lots of taps but nothing that great. Place was big but pretty empty. Went so a burger place around the corner that had a bunch of great local hops, and was full. A well picked smaller taplist always wins for me.

Same issue with this Lakewood location. Much smaller but well curated tap lists at melt and Deagens across the street - wins every time.

Does Small City Taphouse have an issue with freshness? Only been once but know they have like 80+ taps.

Probably does ok since they are a brew oasis in a large mostly dead zone, I think they normally have a pretty good selection. Lakewood has too many great options within a mile of the old WOB site - some within a short walk.

The Columbus Festbier is excellent this year! Won the blind tasting round (three being done) today against Alesmith, Weihenstephaner, Bells, Great Lakes, Spaten and Paulaner. Will be going against the winners last time for the final bracket!

They don't get too crazy with a crap ton of IPAs on draft, so that helps. My general feeling is that they move through just about everything except for maybe the Belgian stuff pretty quickly

Speaking of Small City - anyone know if they're gonna run the November Birthday event again? That selection is better than any beer fest you'll find.

    Voodoo Good Vibes fest disagrees.

Yes, it's my favorite of the year thus far. I'm liking it more than any of the new CBC beers of this summer.

Is it out on shelves already? I haven't seen it the last few times I've checked for it.

Yeah, should be way easy to find by now. It must've hit most places along side their Cowboy Bernie shipment. Get some this weekend. It's insanely smooth.

If anybody is looking to try a bunch of Melvin beers in one place, the Buckeye Beer Engine has 9 on tap according to their website. I'm planning on stopping for lunch today so I will report back.

Was very pleasantly surprised at all the drafts we had last night in Bedford. Really was not expecting that level of quality--they certainly have some good beer flowing in Wyoming!

Southern Tier is opening next week in downtown CLE.

I, for one, am happy that they will have a few Victory beers on tap! I was hoping so given the partnership, but glad it's been confirmed.

Space looks nice. The only thing that sucks will be the parking, but there is a big garage next door. Just have to make sure to avoid any days there are events and such downtown.
