Hey chaps, any must-visit pubs in central Manchester?

A few modernised places that are fairly close to Piccadilly that should give you a good range of cask and keg beers

    Port street beer house
    57 Thomas street
    The Smithfield
    Piccadilly tap

There’s plenty of Joseph Holt’s and jw lees pubs about if you want something a bit more traditional.

Also if you are going over the weekend you might want to visit one or a more of the brewery taps - alphabet, cloudwater, blackjack, track, runaway, beer nouveau. Though they might take some tracking down and will be majority or exclusively keg (if that’s an issue for you)

Not been to Manchester in ages, want to visit it again

I am in Oxford at the moment, had 4 beers at tap social, a micro in an industrial estate. Beers were decent, hoppy table beers and a farmhouse one as well as an IPA. Going to do a traditional pub crawl tomorrow while visiting some colleges. Already looking forward to lots of twiggy bitter:grin:

At the Port Street Bar now after navigating through the madness of the pride parade. Nice shout. And cleanest glassware I've ever seen in a pub.

Did the hook Norton tour today, was nice to see around one of the last remaining tower breweries. Beers were suitably twiggy with a touch of sulphur, their lager was a little weird, rye beer probably pick of the bunch.

I've never really pushed this blog
I even had a hard time finding it when googling, which may be problematic...
also I've always thought of the beer blog world has been over-saturated
but I do occasionally get people asking 'where's the (video) blog
So I'm coming back to Liberte, egalite, beer not tea
& hoping to write a little every Thursday, now why Emperorbevis?
In these posts will be a list of beers sampled that week, where they are bought with the price and a small evaluation.
This means, if like me you have a small disposable income, you not only will be able to take advantage of any bargains I've found but also get an idea if you'd enjoy some of the higher ticket ales.
After all, IMHO, the most expansive beer is one you gain no enjoyment from, regardless if you paid
    50p, £1, £5, £10 or £50.
There will be some other anecdotes, stories of ale recent & long gone, news & beer boor rambling.

I have one can of Crate IPA for tonight,
that is going to be beer 2495.
The last round number before that landmark 2500 different beers tried & tasted.
It's taken seven years, averaging at almost a new beer a day
and almost certainly has helped keep me off cigarettes.

Heavy but great weekend last week at BCBF2018. Like last year breweries banged out a huge amount of quality brews :

    Magic Rock Fridge Life, Yuzango
    Amundsen Voodoo Headbanger
    Arbor Untitled 15% Impy Stout
Burnt Mill Sleeping Giants (collab with Finback)
    Good Chemistry Barrel Aged Saison
    Mikkeller Spontanhexadrupelraspberry, Bean Geek IPA,
    Lervig Going Nowhere
    Mont Saleve Berliner Weisse
Northern Monk Once, Twice, Three times a Whale
    Stone Elderfower Sour
Tempest BA All the leaves are brown
The Kernel Pale Ale Mosaic Centennial, Biere de Saison Galaxy
    Verdant Don't tell Gus
    Dry and Bitter Guavalanche

Stand outs, the 2 Kernel beers (always solid) BA All the leaves are brown (fabulous maple high ABV brown ale) and the local Arbor and Good Chem brews.
