I always seem to be traveling for work during the good Cellarmaker releases since I usually go to, Portland or Seattle Monday-Wednesday. Which also means I generally miss the Great Notion or Reuben's releases which are usually weekends - although now that Great Notion is canning more often I've been able to get some of their hops (Ripe is amazing).

Yep. Double Mt. Nelson is always popular, and then adding "Double Dry Hopped" to any IPA will have it flying off the proverbial shelves.

My only hope of getting any DDH Mo Galaxy on Wednesday when I'm back in town seems to be if CM posts a picture and it isn't hazy at all, a la From Yakima with Love. Cuz I love that Mo' Galaxy in it's base West Coast format.

I'm shocked! You normally don't like WC style anymore! I really did love their last can of Mo' Simcoe though, so I'm stoked.

I've been coming back around :grin:Though to be fair, I've always liked GOOD West coast IPAs (Cellarmaker, Alvarado, and Fieldwork for example) even over the last few years as the Haze became more my jam. The hazy stuff just does more for my palate since ironically I've never really liked overly bitter beers despite being a hop head. With the NEIPA style I can get the hop forward flavors I loved in WCIPA without too much bite. I think I've just raised my personal bar as to what I consider a good WCIPA

Although it started out with a line at the end of Vive le Tart, there's no line at all since about 1p.

DDH Mo' Galaxy - WC+ IPA. The DDHing definitely adds more fruity character, but honestly, it's just CM doing what they do best. Adding hop flavor, but not necessarily bitterness.

Double Mt. Nelson - Not as intense as their original batch. This one tones down the diesel for a more rounded experience. Not necessarily a bad thing since I do like the end product more, but I have to admit it's less interesting overall. Curious to see how this develops.

DDH Double Dobis - Available on tap and growler fill, this one is straight up murk vegetal juice. It has the prominent citrus flavors you want, and there isn't much bitterness even compared to normal DD. But there's a distinct vegetal, tea-like profile that's hard to escape. I'm sure it'll mellow in the days/week to come, but will it even be available?

Doesn't seem like there ever was much of a line which is both surprising and great.

Both cans still available and I opened a bottle of the Mosaic/Mango last night, they did a great job with that beer.

Yeah, Mango/Mosaic is pretty awesome! I feel a little bad that they haven't sold much of them - probably because of the price - but honestly, at $27/750mL, it's cheaper than their $20/500mL fruited lambics, so I don't have a problem with it. I will probably pick up another bottle next time I go. Wish they kept around more kegs of it though!

Yep! I mean at first sip I was almost thinking it was too much Nelson. But of course by the second I was corrected. Great beer.

The Mo Galaxy was really good as well, but the DDH Double Dobis... Holy shit that was good!

I haven't been this excited about a Nelson beer since Alpine's Toronado 25th (before it became Keene Idea). I remember seeing something about several of the more recent Nelson crops being somewhat subpar in comparison to previous years but it looks like whatever crop/lot they used for Double Mt Nelson was a very good one. I don't usually max out on allocations but I did this time. BTW, if you let your pour sit for a little bit, it opens up to reveal tons of tropical fruit, at least for me.

Congrats to CM for kicking ass at the MT festival. They continue to pump out some of the best beers in the country while staying under the radar and best of all no lines at their monthly releases!
