Zonk is really good, super dank-oniony and I'm, surprisingly, not tasting the 10% at all.

The first quote assumed the second. That is, I knew I was going to buy a lot of Grimm, and didn't have room for Sixpoint  (no offense to Sixpoint)

Snuck down from Dutchess County today real quick. Snagged a 4 of each today (AI, TS, SC, Zonk) and each is on point! Really digging being able to swing through on a Saturday to grab multiple varieties. ❤️

How's this first brewery batch of Afterimage?

Very interested to see how Grimm does a 10% IPA. I’ve not had an IPA from them over 8.5%. My
expectation would be a highly drinkable beer given their deft hand.

Had it on tap yesterday, the smell was incredibly funky, taste was pretty smooth. Last time I had it two years ago I don’t recall it smelling anything like it did yesterday. Had Zonk also, Zonk didn’t smell funky at all, preferred Zonk taste over Afterimage.

A little sweeter and smoother than I remember which I don’t prefer but also don’t mind. It’s great.

First time out yesterday. Enjoyed the spot minus the headless cat out front..

Your expectations will likely be met, though I’m basing that entirely on a small pour of it at the end of a long day of drinking. Definitely a nice dryness to the 10%. I normally avoid triple IPAs because I prefer stouts and barleywines when I want sweetness, but Zonk avoids that territory.

Usually it's about hops hiding the high abv....with Today's Special, the hops hide the low abv, and very nicely. Nice body, drinks like a beer of a higher alcoholic stature.

I had previously rated this a 4.5 on Untapp'd ( high for me). It's tasty. I would say it's dank and smooth. Lacks any sort of juice or "gummi bear juice". I think it's still so good, but, I would rank it lower more towards a 4.25. If anything, I think the flavor profile goes flat towards the end.

Was my first time at the new spot, and I chose to go there over OH. I like "today's Special Citra" better than AI (not that you can compare the styles).

Overall, I love the space. I love all the bottle pours and sours -- it sets it self as a whole different destination than OH. Their Sours are so damn good. I almost felt like I was stealing as they kept cracking open the bottles.

I think they should stop serving food and let dogs in instead.

Zonk was a disappointment. Too dry, and astringent on the back end, and lacked flavor. Maybe my least favorite Grimm beer I have had.

I have to reiterate how good Today's Special was.

*sigh* been trying to keep my fridge relatively beer-free but I might have to pilgrimage my way in for Afterimage, just for the novelty of not having to Whole Foods chase.

Zonk is pretty good. IMO its light for a 10% which is really nice but I was also pretty drunk at the time.

AC fixed? My trek out there tonight might be dependent on that...

Yeah I picked up cans last night. This is the haziest version of Afterimage yet which makes it tough to compare to past batches. In general the ipa's have definitely been dialed in over the last couple weeks especially compared to what was being distributed from VA.

I really like Zonk and may go pick up more later this week. I had one after Afterimage and could definitely notice a difference in the body of it, but it doesn't have the burn or high bitterness some other triples have. It'd be interesting to taste it blind next to some of OH's triples.

As for the AC, it's no hotter than LIC was a couple weeks ago when I went. It's probably not hitting less than 75, but it's definitely comfortable considering it's summer and was worse the first week compared to other times I've been. I can't imagine they'll consider changing anything else until next summer at this point.

Did you brew Splish recently and is it seeing distribution outside of the brewery? Thanks in advance.

We last released Splish (and distributed it) in mid June, right before we opened -- so anything you see out in the wild is from that batch. People ask why we're distributing fewer cans outside of the brewery... this is why!
