That's what I mean. It's simply not worth the hassle to go out that way for 2 bottles, even if they haven't sold out yet.

Update: 45 cases are being delivered to Mass this year, most places are only getting one case, depends on how much that store sold of Founders.

I kind of hate myself for calling around searching for this stuff.

Has anyone heard about KBS on tap anywhere in Boston or the North Shore? (Is it too early?)

Founders LOVES the Vermont market. That's the only explanation for the miracle I just encountered.

My little hole-in-the wall store got four cases. I went in at lunch and KBS is just sitting there on the shelves, and the store was empty. I bought a case! (God I feel bad for the people waiting outside at Founders for the release...I was in and out of there in about 4 minutes.)

My beer guy there also took the liberty of saving me two DFH 75-minutes out of the one case he got. I was ready to hug him.

    Beer lovers: move to Vermont.

PS: 10 feet from this KBS display was the standard 20 or so 4-pks of Heady Topper sitting in the cooler.

Screw KBS - if I lived in Vermont I would pretty much live off a steady diet of Hill Farmstead and Heady Topper. And Birth of Tragedy is actually a better beer than KBS IMO.

I don't think you want to wait till Friday or Monday. If my memory serves me correctly the Ides of March is when KBS shows up in stores so Today would be the day to go and look for it if you are so inclined. Anyone who gets some of this years and wants to do an in person trade for a bottle or two of 2011 let me know.

It's come & gone from liquor world according to twitter. I did take a peek over at supreme today and they didn't have any. I didn't talk to anyone but I doubt they will be getting any in.

I have gotten it the last three times on March 15th in MA. I remember people saying that Founders intends for it to be released nationwide on March 15th. They would even ship it to stores a few days early so the stores could put it out that day, which resulted in stores selling it early some years and people getting pissed off. It might hit late in some areas due to distribution but I think it is intended as the Ides of March.

went back and looked in my gmail - in 2011 I went out & about on 3/17 (liquor world, charles st, whole foods river street, supreme). In 2010 I went out & about on 3/16 - basically the same lineup. Don't have data from before that.

FYI I got one bottle this morning with a pop in at one of my locals, they had a case that was accounted for, but the guy let me get one.
Went to Julios at lunch time and it wasn't in ye. Everyone seemed annoyed with people miling around and asking for KBS. After lunch I stopped back in and got some old Raspy XIV and 75min. The manager told me the truck is due at 4pm and a two beer limit. Too far for me to drive back for two beers. If you're close go by after 4pm and just remeber who gave you the lead:slight_smile:

This is friggin ridiculous when one of the largest bottle stores in Michigan who sells over 500 cases of founders a year, only gets allocated 2 cases of KBS and some out of state store gets more???? Pure Bullshit

    I'm surprised they're breaking up the 4 packs, that's a bit of a bummer.

No 4-packs, even at Julios, wow. I would have to say I love KBS but it is certainly not worth going crazy for 1-2 bottles. I think Founders should just keep it all in Michigan from now on.
