Er, duh, i would never have known. Just finished a 2010 Decadence old ale a couple days ago and have had Kuhnhenn's Fourth Dementia, BB Fourth Dementia and Ola Dubh (30 Year Old), Curmudgeon, Old Woody, and a few others, but other than that, have not had a lot of exposure to old ales, so didn't know I should age a high-alcohol brew like that. Thanks!

Ironic because the purpose of IPA was to make the trip from UK to India back in the 1700's

1 year old 120min IPA is about the only IPA I can stand.

Nice math work. Lets say we take your comparison of 60 bbls being roughly equivalent to 500 cases of BB #1 which is 5 times as much as JK Whiskey Rodeo. Now take roughly 480 bbls minus some for kegs so to be safe we'll say 420 bbls of DR12 bottled which put in 12 oz cases would be 7000 cases but we go back in time and put all of the DR12 in bombers for your comparison and come out with 3500 cases which is 35 times the amount of JK Whiskey Rodeo.

Saint Arnold was able to distribute the DR12 far and wide in TX and it seems it may have been only slightly more accessible than Whiskey Rodeo and St A's brewed 35 times as much! BTW, I hardly found Whiskey Rodeo "easily accessible".

You're comparing apples to oranges. I like JK but St A's has way more brand recognition and notoriety than JK. St A's was #43 in total volume of all craft breweries last year. There aren't lines of people waiting to get JK beers (for the record I'm not saying I wouldn't wait in line for some of JK beers, I enjoy many of them immensly) like there are with St A's. The whole "its so small" argument is also relative to demand. If you have 100 people wanting to eat one pizza, the pizza is considered small. If there are only 2 people wanting to eat that same pizza it's not so small anymore.

I'm not even going into the "well, they should have brewed more". Thats already been covered enough.

On the other hand, Karbach is the exact opposite. They distribute only in Houston and have a much smaller following therefore of course their beers are going to be more readily available even with smaller production.

Does the "its so small" argument make more sense now?

I just can't hang... I know most say "IPA > *" but I'd rather have Stouts and Old Ales...and a nice Lager here and there.

Hay merchant is releasing theirs at 3pm today. Couldn't tell if had been posted posted yet, too much bickering to read through.

I'm not surprised. Whatever, like Champ, I'm done pointing out facts that are apparently hard for some to grasp. Go back to bitching about St Arnold's.

When was it stated that this was for "Old Accounts Only?" Do you think SA should sell beer to a bar that buys bottles, kegs, casks sporadically over the past 15 years over one that consistently sells out of everything they get on a regular basis over the course of a year? I'm not sure what business you're in, but typically, the more you buy, the more you get, and the more likely you are to get special treatment. Also, Hay Merchant isn't even a year old yet, they still have another four months or so to go, but Anvil has been around for a while.

I don't think SA brewed this beer specifically for "beer advocates." Getting butt hurt about other people wanting beer that you don't consider "beer advocates" is a really douchey, elitist, and in my eyes, non-adovcate thing to think. You should just accept and be merry with the fact that there are people other than the users of this site that tend to like beer.

There's gonna be twice the amount of Sailing Santa on the shelves next month as there is right now. BRB, gotta go out and pick up some 6-month old Endeavour!

Apparently you have no concept of supply and demand. Please go buy that Endeavour.
