Road Trip to Jackie Os and need help!!

Examples of "real crazy stuff" or "serious beers" are a requisite for answering this one.

Ohio is well known, at least to Ohioans, for squashing any hype behind any of its own beer damn near instantaneously, no matter the merit.

So I'm inclined to say there is nothing you'd be interested in spending your money on outside of Jackie O's.

 

Pass on through Columbus with your whale hunting garbage. We have some great beer here but you wouldn't be able to enjoy it, leave it for open minded people with a real appreciation for craft beer.

 

I've traded (and continue to) trade with several great BAs from OH who have blessed me with some great beer. Howdy gents. Thus I've experienced some great breweries from there. Knowing nothing of distro by where you are shopping, you can't go wrong with most things from Columbus Brewing, Fat Head's, and Wolf's Ridge. I dk about any crazy stuff, but they all make damn good beer. IMO, JOs is where you'll spend your $ for big beers.

If you are running low on $s, you will go through that quickly at JOs. If you want more variety, you can find fresh Columbus Brewing in lots of places in Columbus. If you have a specific route, someone can probably point you at a couple specific stores along the way.

There are a couple places that do crowlers in Columbus that will have some of the Wolf Ridge offerings, but I don't think any of their BA offerings. I think these are only done at releases, but I am not very familiar with Wolf Ridge. If you duck into the Ohio thread, you can ask there and will probably get some helpful feedback about if there are ever any bottles lingering.

You may want to stop by Savor Growler in Columbus for some decent finds. They frequently have some nice options, including shelf-schramm's, and perhaps some older editions of No Rules and such (if that's not still lingering around Chicago). Prices range from reasonable to high depending on the options. They also do growler fills, but no crowlers.

There's a shop by me that has Dirty Horse, KBBS and Dave just sitting out on the shelves.

 

Are you looking for just real crazy stuff, or are you open to some ultra premium rare stuff too? If you ask for one and not the other you might miss out. Oh wait you listed serious beers, that covers it.

That's why I threw in KBBS lol. It would be an interesting poll to see who here knows what those beers are. Add in Framboos, too.

 

Had to look up Dirty Horse but I'm familiar with most everything else in their lineup. Black Albert used to turd up shelves around here. Those were the days...

 

Speaking of, Black Albert on Steroids is definitively the worst "beer" I've ever had.
