Would be nice if these pop-up beer gardens could manage to open up outside of Boston metro on occasion (yeah, I know the Notch ones - but crickets otherwise).

Side note: if owned a beer-focused bar/resto Id be a bit annoyed about the proliferation of taprooms & pop-ups that don’t have to serve food as part of their license. Tho given the predatory pricing history of many Boston joints, maybe I don’t care <that> much.

I think it’s great. A summer beer garden is a great place to hang out. If we can replace the English garten of Munich in boston, bring it on!

Ha, yeah we have enough, they should spread the love a bit. Although I Uber everywhere (I've Uber'd to Boxford from Somerville before), so you could easily snag an Uber split with other people and hit up multiple beer gardens in one shot.

It sounds like it can be somewhat difficult to get a beer garden going though as @EnronCFO has stated before. It could also be an issue of finding the space in the suburbs.

Well, they all do have food trucks, maybe that's a way around it?

This past weekend I went to the Aeronaut beer garden in Arlington, and they have a two drink limit unless you purchase food, then you get an additional drink ticket.

From there I hopped over to Trillium and then Nightshift's on the Esplanade. It never ceases to amaze me that as popular as Trillium is, I barely ever wait to get into the garden. If there is even a line, it moves incredibly fast. I waited maybe three minutes?

Then I went to Nightshift's and waited about 30 minutes to get in. Same thing happened last year, after Trillium I hopped over to Harpoon's outdoor garden and there was a massive line so we left.

I wonder how the capacity limits work for outdoor beer gardens. Trillium's was packed, but still comfortable, and the beer lines were long-ish but you never waited more than a few minutes for a beer.

Nightshift's had tons of open space, and no beer lines...except the 30 - 40 minute line to get in...

I would have liked to have seen less corn hole and more tables too.

All in all though, had a good time in the beautiful weather at all three.

Our Esplanade location is in constant evolution. Every week we are collecting feedback and tweaking stuff. We have greatly expanded the seating from the first week. Capacity is still something we are working thru. Its a combo of what the police, parks, and fire are comfortable with as well as number of bathrooms and staff we have. We obviously don't want lines for lines sake - people in line don't buy beer. So we are looking at solutions to minimize wait and get beer into your hands as fast and safely as possible.

This weekend we should have additional staff to hopefully shorten the lines.

    Cheers!
