According to the Sierra Nevada beer finder on their web site, the Fall Variety is available at several places in Austin.

Just picked up the SN and HB Oktoberfests at Total Wine in Houston. Some of the other German ones were there too.

I just picked up a couple sixers of the Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest in SA. I must say, IMO, it is amazing! Great flavor, and smooth and light enough to have several Maß of it!

Picked up the SN Fall Pack. That Vienna Lager is sooooo good. It was great to drink tumbler and Ruthless too.

As far as local goes, Alamo and 903 both have their Oktoberfest's on the shelf. Still waiting for Ballast Points to make it to SA!

I'm working on a six pack of the Shiner Okto right now. Not bad but not as complex as others. Just bready maltiness. A bit sweet.

I also had Saint Arnold and Rahr and Sons Oktoberfests on tap recently.
I liked the Rahr the most out of the three. It had the maltiness with the bitterness backing it up.

Saint Arnold was my least favorite of these three. It was sweet but I didn't get the breadiness I love in a good marzen. Just a bit bland.

I've also seen SN, and a bunch of German imports in stores but I haven't gotten around to buying them yet.

Have you tried either of those (Alamo or 903)? After trying a handful of Alamo beers they all seemed to be just trying to be as inoffensive as possible. Not much flavor. But I wonder how their oktoberfest will be.

On the other hand the 903 Okto I had last year was way too sweet and caramelly.

Not impressed with Saint Arnold’s Oktoberfest this year. Waiting on Ayinger, Avery Kaiser and Rumpkin. Hofbrau on tap was light on flavor but enjoyable.

So, not sure how many people actually read the Saint Arnold web site description of their Oktoberfest. If you read it, and look at the awards that it has won, you'll see that their Oktoberfest isn't a marzen, but actually a Scottish ale, which means it will be a lot sweeter and more caramel forward than a marzen, and an ale. That aside, I love it!

Alamo's Oktoberfest isn't bad, but compared to what else is available, its not one that I search out. I will say that its great for cooking some brats though. 903 wasn't bad either, but again, my tastes send me to other examples.

It appears its officially Oktoberfest season (well, not really official until September 22nd), but the store shelves say otherwise. Finally picked up Ayinger Oktoberfest and Dogfish Head Punk'n! Still waiting to find/try the new version of Avery Kaiser and the always fabulous Live Oak Oaktoberfest.

Just got the New Belgium Atomic Pumpkin. It was a favorite last year, and I must say, I think it's my favorite pumpkin ale that we get around here!

For those of you in the Hill Country, or those that just want a nice drive, Cibolo Creek Brewing has a collaboration Oktoberfest on tap, brewed between Cibolo Creek, Kinematic, Boerne Brewing, and Dodging Duck. Its more traditional German style, meaning its not overly sweet or a caramel bomb like some American versions. Aside from Live Oak's, I would say it's the closest to a traditional Marzen style Oktoberfest.

I don't think there's any way I'm going to come across Cibolo Creek's Oktoberfest... But last year my wife and I did blind taste testings of Oktoberfest beers. One tasting day of märzens and one day of pale festbiers (There weren't many here but I wanted to compare Weihenstephan and Paulaner, and I had Legal Draft here... maybe something else?)

I was unable to pick out the german examples from the Texas examples. Ayinger, Hacker-Pschorr, and Spaten are much sweeter than people give them credit for. Rahr, Real Ale, Live Oak, Southern Star, even sometimes Shiner have all been in the same range as the German versions.

Generally I think this is one of the few areas that we are lucky in Texas... It's easier to find a decent Oktoberfest than it sounds like it is in other parts of the country.

I'm still trying to figure out which is my favorite local(ish) Oktoberfest. I've just bought Pegasus City Brewing and OHB's versions. I'm waiting for them to cool down before giving them a good taste. Hopefully I'll be able to get an example or two from Austin next weekend.

What Austin area Oktoberfests are on the shelves by now?

    Is Live Oak Oaktoberfest out?

    What about Austin Beerworks version?
I think I saw Altstadt was fermenting one at one point. Is it available or just for their opening?

    Are there any others?
Well Real Ale but I can always buy that here in North Texas.

    What about others?

I just picked up Live Oaks Oaktoberfest at HEB in the San Antonio area yesterday, so I'm assuming it's all over Austin by now. As for the others you mentioned, I haven't seen them around here yet.

@beeragent Thanks. Hopefully my parents will be able to bring me some Oaktoberfest.

Do any other breweries make Oktoberfests in Austin?
H&G? They make a few lagers.
    St. Elmo's?
