Perhaps SA doesn't either. Why else would they have brewed Sailing Santa again? Fool me once....

I want to know why they began brewing it in the first place. It was much more amusing to make my own...

Fool me once and you'll be fooled again? Yeah, you're right, St A's doesn't know anything about supply and demand that's why they're ranked higher than any other TX craft brewery other than Shiner. Great, you don't like sailing santa, why don't you start a separate thread bitching about that too?

St Arnold makes a lot of solid beers, and even a few great ones. And yes, they have done an outstanding job of establishing themselves as one of the most successful breweries in TX. Does that mean that they don't make mistakes? Or that people can't voice their opinions over said mistakes? No. Thanks for jumping up my ass over a tongue-in-cheek remark. Now do us all a favor and calm down.

Oh, and imo, BB1 is diabolical. It went straight to my gag reflex.

Thanks to Flying Saucer's policy of not selling sealed bottles, I was able to try this. Kudos to them and any other like-minded bar that is trying to spread this beer to as many folks as possible. I'm a little disappointed in HM (in particular, given how many they will let you buy) and other bars that are selling this to go. I think it defeats the spirit of spreading this beer around (which I think was SA's intent by only releasing it through bars). This is made worse, of course, by folks who bring their spouses, significant others, friends, bums off the street, etc. to stand in line with them so each can get the maximum.

Again, I just responded to your "perhaps St Arnold's doesn't either" remark in reference to supply and demand with facts. You're entitled to your own opinion, I could care less whether or not you like St A's. I'm not a big fan of Sailing Santa either. I never started any of this by telling people what their opinion of St A's should be. All I asked is that when people talk shit they back it up with facts. And of course St A's makes mistakes. I'm not being a homer, I'm just stating the truth.

Apologies if you feel I was jumping down your throat. I didn't realize your comment was tongue in cheek and I'm stuck at the DMV because their computers are down and it may be a "few hours" before they are restored. Hell.

Saucer can't sale these bottles to go because they have a liquor license.

Fair enough. FWIW, I don't think that SA has supply/demand issues on the whole. I'm just puzzled by the re-release of Sailing Santa, that's all.

Well shoot. That still wound up being a good thing but I suppose I shouldn't give them too much credit for having a "noble" intent...

As someone mentioned above, the "hype" factor here seems to be being perpetuated by the bars, and not by S.A. themselves. My understanding was that this was meant to be an "on premise" beer that would be something special bars would use to bring in customers - sort of envisioned it as a gift S.A. was giving to some of its best accounts, to help them bring people in.

I completely hate the idea that bars are just selling the bottles, at a pretty significant price, and letting customers buy up to 3 at a time in some places, apparently. This opens the door to hoarding by traders, and crap like those $30 bottles in Craigs list. I would much rather have seen this just available in bars, so people would actually DRINK it, and not just buy it to hold onto or trade, as I'm sure many people are doing. The mistake SA made, in my eyes, is not making this a keg-only release.

Other than that, they can do whatever the fuck they want, and if you dont like their beer, don't drink it. Some is good, some is bad, and some is in between, like most other breweries.

Hay Merchant will be selling a limit of 6... 3 I can see, but 6?!

I bought 3, 1 for me, 1 for the GF who couldn't go, and one to age. I don't feel like this is hoarding. It sickens me that people are trying to sell this for $30 a bottle though. These are the morons who ruin it for everyone, not the bars, not Saint Arnold, not BA, the selfish turds that don't even give a crap about the beer and just want to make a $$$.

I even joked with Ben that I should use my kid as a mule (I had to take him last night). lol And no, I didn't, it was a joke.

Oh trust me, EVERYBODY in the city knows about it lol - It's gonna look like "Downtown Specs on a DR Release Day" there today. Good luck to all who go through that bullshit today.

And just think... BB2 in January!!!

Need I remind everyone on this election day to visit Open The Taps?

A lot of these distribution issues would be self correcting if breweries had more avenues to control distribution (Say half to on-premise state wide and half out of the brewery itself for take home...but one can only dream)

I'm glad they are. It's good to hear that they are trying to get more people product.

I just hope they aren't giving anyone super special treatment. These events usually police them self pretty well.

I never saw anyone get more than 3 at Petrol.

And I hope no place is breaking their limits. Or setting them too high for that matter.
