New to Ohio (2018)

Willoughby has been looking to expand for years. Always rumors. Anyone else think they are a bit too late with the expansion?!

 

Not if they can pump out Nutsmasher regularly.

 

Anyone seen the Joe Thomas 73 Kolsch from GLBC anywhere? I know it releases Tuesday but I’m in from out of town and leave tomorrow afternoon. Saw a few Untappd check-ins from cans, so thought I’d see...

 

I haven't seen it yet.. Great Lakes said on Twitter that it "will hit the GLBC gift shop and Cleveland market on September 4".. based on their press release, they said "select Cleveland markets", so I'm not sure if it will be distributed outside of Cleveland.. you never know though..

What's the haps on insane wanderer? Is v2 still being pumped out and when can we expect v3?

 

bottling another batch of Vol 2 on Friday. We'll do a few more batches yet. Look for Vol 3 in late Oct/early Nov.

 

+1 on the CBC Festbier...it is truly fantastic this year. Going to definitely pick up some more.

 

Every so often I see someone post that they see a new brewery register with the state. There is a new place opening up in painesville, there is no info posted, but just curious what might be coming to my area. If you have any info, feel free to message me.

Not new to Ohio, but just a general question. Anyone go to Rare Beer Fest at Rhinegeist last year? I'm looking at going this year and can't believe they're charging $40 for 10 samples. Is this fest like other ones where they don't actually take tickets and you can have as many samples as you want or are they actually strict on it?

 

@tcorder219 Fantastic! I hate to be so inquisitive/needy but how long after bottling does it ship? I have a big weekend and would love to find it in eastern ohio by the end of the week, think that's likely?

What's up with Curmudgeon? I went to a store today and saw them loading up more Barrel Runner on the shelves. It was an okay beer to try once I guess, but my god is Founders making them sell a certain amount of Barrel Runner before they get Curmudgeon? Their releases have been bad this year as far as timing goes.

 

You mean the special version Better Half or regular? I think I heard there were State of Ohio labeling issues with Better Half.

 

At this point CBS will come to Ohio in February.

 

At this rate, it would be better to submit the labels a year early... This isn't the first time they've had issues in Ohio.

 

~2 week old cans of Melvin 2x4 hit this week. Haven't cracked one yet but much more promising than the 2 month old cans of Asterisk they launched in OH with last month (that IPA though!).

 

That’s good news. 2x4 is fantastic. I was disappointed when I saw early July cans on Asterisk since I hadn’t tried that one and I ran into old cans from WY last time so wanted to revisit others. Was disappointed with Lamda Lamda Lamda, but IPA is solid and for some reason, for as many killer ipas as we have in OH, not many are canned (non Imperial)

 

Finally something that makes sense in terms of why something from a neighboring state is so late on being here. Don't get me wrong, I think it was an avoidable error by Founders but it explains why the state is currently an island of unavailability.
